Congratulations Ola!!! You are the 6000th post on an Epic thread!!

I have enjoyed reading and catching up,, but a bit rushed so pardon me for not referencing to all that I have read. We are on our way to Avalon , NJ for a family photo shoot... hub is "shooting" a fmaily of 15 people long the water,,, will be fun.
We leave Saturday am for CO. so this is a bit of a hectic week, which we all seem to have had,,,,,sooo I am sure you understand, right?
Oh! Ola, I am strongly debating giving my sweet 3 y.o. grand daughter one of the trolls that I bought last spring. Kind of along the line of what you did with your nieces,,,

V: I don't mind the driving, it's all the other city dwellers who claim that we have no good driving roads that do not wish to be bothered.

And I suppose I could get on a plane, but how will my MINI get there!?!?!

HI CAB! Thank you! Glad you could stop by.

Alrighty... I just posted a couple of youtube videos of my October 2008 TOPLESS below freezing videos on a Cabrio thread. They're kind of silly... thought I might post them here for your viewing. Y'all already know I'm crazy anyway.

RG.. RG... RG... Now Honey, of COURSE the other city dwellers claim we have no good driving roads. Have you SEEN what they're driving?! Some of those "fancy" vehicles drive like they're made of tinfoil and held together with chewing gum...
Sadly they don't even know better, and TRY to drive like they have a german engineered sports/rally car (which they mostly don't) and then blame the road. Never once do they consider that it might be their driving skills (or lack thereof) and the fact that their vehicle is the same size as their LIVING ROOM! (I love that analogy, I use it all teh time to describe driving the LandCruiser... which I absolutely adore for what it is, but it is like driving our living room).
When you see/hear these people talking about such and such road, asking you if it's fun to drive, you need to check what kind of car they're driving... and then say "NO, it's AWFUL!" (and keep em off it!)
Remember RG, it's a conspiracy... and we're part of it!

Giggle!

Welcome to Real Life. People don't say much about anything that's going right. It's when things go bad that people vent.

I have 2 MINIs and have never had even a minor problem with either. Fantastic car and up until recently I've owned nothing but Toyotas - probably the most reliable brand on the market. AND I did my first oil changes at the factory recommended intervals (18,000 miles), use regular gas, kept the original tires, take my car to a carwash and clean my plastic with Armour-All. And despite violating every rule on NAM, my cars run like clocks.

Go figure.

I did the posting for an e-mail write in to Top Gear to try to get them to attend in 2010.

Hope you can help out.

That's pretty much what gets my goat (if I actually had one - I'll borrow one of TNMM's) about NAM and newbies...Too many potential MINI owners get wrapped around the axle (ha ha ha) about the gripes posted on NAM. Read all the good stuff people.

Hia Freebs!!!

I melted yesterday - ok, mostly - and had a flat in the rain on the highway 3 exits from home. I have runflats, but I'm going to have the poor thing towed to the dealer 40 minutes away. MINI shoes are expensive.

Sorry to hear about that x! I've never had a tire go flat at a convenient time. The weather is usually sour, or it's pitch black outside, or I'm in a hurry to get someplace...or some combination of those.

MINI shoes are expensive, and they don't last very long at all! They are more expensive than the tires for my lifted Jeep Cherokee. I'm going to need a new summer set next year...and I've 'only' got 45k on my car.

Hope your day goes better today!

:O you get 45k on a set of tires? I put a set of tires on my s2000 about 15k miles ago and the back ones are already at the wear bars :(

They're already at the wear bars now. And I wouldn't count that as a full 45k on the tires, being that I run my winter tires most of the year.

I'd guess the factory craptastic tires have something like 25k mostly easy miles on them. I don't track my car or anything more than 'spirited' driving...

UhOh if you are Dead-set on going with Run Flats and purchasing them through your Dealer they are expensive. But if you still have to have Run Flats check out www.tirerack.com they are a NAM Vendor and very helpful on the phone.

If you are thinking that you can survive with Non-Run Flats which I am doing in a month and a half TireRack has tons of options for the MINI and the set I'm looking at are only $87 and are rated for 50,000 miles.

OK, so I looked up the tirerack people in my local area, and thankfully there's a service center two miles (ish) from my house. I cannot for the LIFE of me remember if I have 16" or 17" - i'm second guessing myself, because I'm ALMOST positive I have 17"...yet the dealer this morning said I had 16" and the specs for the MINI online says 16"..... I hate it when I do that to myself. ANYWAY...the nice service guy said he can get either the 16" or the 17" (whichever it turns out to be) in and installed by noontime(ish) tomorrow...IF i can get the car to him. I can DO 2ish miles! WHich means no towing.

Thanks RJ - you were like the 3rd or 4th person to refer me to tire rack. i DO prefer the runflats...I will admit I tend to push the speed envelope, and in the past (read: German autobahns) I've had tires go out on me at *AHEM! COUGH COUGH!* pretty high rates of speed....the runflats were the best things I'd ever come across for that experience!! They have their drawbacks, but I'll take the safetynet, thanks! I KNOW how to change tires, and I"ve done it many times...but I'd prefer not having to do it, since - like Darren (aka Mr. Alaska) - it never happens to me at good or convenient times.

SO! Back to our regularly scheduled programs....

Oh ya - I did the track ONCE, and had done the Dragon ONCE (at very very high rates of speed I probably should NEVER have done!) ...And then had to get my tires replaced before I even hit 20k miles. *where's my whistling little angel smiley?*

*peeks head in door*...so I'm just curious, this thread is about 9 months old . Has there been at least one post everyday since 11-30-2008? If so then that is unbelievably impressive (insert #1 Trophy smiley face here).

Miniola: at :46 of your second video, seeing the troll's hair get blown by the wind made me spit up my pepsi

Hia DrewN! Yes, we've had AT LEAST one post per day since then. And we've all become VERY good friends. If you're trying to waste time, we strongly suggest you read it from begining to end (if you can keep up!)

Anyway...Whatcha mean I'm your heroine, Cab? 'Coz I tend to go faster than prescribed? Because I have and can change tires? Or for other reasons? 'Coz I'm JUST THAT AWESOME???? You're SO VERY right. What a SMART woman!!!

Mini Cooper Product!!

Hi Freebe's. It has been a long time since I last posted, but I have popped in now and again to see what you have all been up to. I have been away to training and trying to get caught up at home as well. I was cleaning out my attic and came across an old victorian dollhouse that I started about 20 years ago. My Dad decided that he wanted to work on it, so we have been spending Saturday's together working on the dollhouse. We have finished the wallpaper, hardwood floors and ceilings and are now moving on to the electrical lights. While this has nothing to do with my MINI, everything related with the house is certainly "mini"!

Well anyway, a friend at work sent me an email today of new unusual products and one of the items was just too good not to share with my fellow MINI and Mini owners on the Free Classic Mini thread. This item is too cool. Now while it bothers me that perhaps a real Mini had to give its life, I am just going to go on believing that this is a sweet replica and no Mini's were killed in the creation of this product.

Have to go, I have office work to finish tonight so that I can work on the dollhouse again this weekend and go on a MINI run on Sunday. Hi to all and catch you later.

Holy SHEEP, it's Kiki!!! That sounds like a really cool project, Kiki. We (of course) want pics! you're right - i hope no Mini lives were lost in the making of those desks...the prices START at 2,500 BP....that's like $5,000! I'd get a real classic before I'd get a classic desk!

Speaking of finding a real classic, I came across one in Alaska - posted on craigslist of all places.

http://anchorage.craigslist.org/cto/1332467943.html

The owner is emailing some better pics right now...

Ooooo, Darren, that's a sweet picture! We would totally be jealous of you.

SO! The latest update on the drama that is MINI shoes. Yes, i went with runflats. No, i didn't go to the dealer (wayyyy too far away.) I went with the TireRack dealer, and managed to limp my way to their location early this morning. Nice guy at the desk, and I know they consider themselves "southern" here... but I don't think I've ever heard a MAN refer to my husband as "Big Daddy." EEEEEVER. !!!! I was so taken aback by this, I almost didn't hear the guy call me "Girl." Repeatedly. He was a sweet guy and didn't mean any offense, but ... YIKES, I was in uniform and I guess I just didn't expect it. (Am I brainwashed or what!) ANywayyyy...The "shoe" is going to cost me $332!!!! That's more than my house's electric bill for a whole month in 95+ degree summer heat and 4,700+ square feet of house!!!!!! ARRRRGH!!!!
