Way back in September I was offered a job at a new hotel out here. It was brand new, so they were hiring like crazy. Of course I stopped looking for a job because I had the letter they gave me telling me when to come in for orientation at the end of October. So I show up on the right day, right time, and when I go to check in they tell me my name isn't on the list. "Go check with HR." So I go down there and they tell me "Well, we sent you your background check and credit report." Since there was nothing wrong with either, I was like "And?????" She tells me I'm not hired because of my credit. The ONLY thing on there that was even remotely questionable was when I had to shortsell my house in 2004. Not a foreclosure or anything, mind you, a shortsale! I was flabbergasted and when I asked if there was anyone else I could talk to about it, she said no and asked me to leave, but before I left asked if I wanted their copy of my credit report. I was furious!
Needless to say, I will never stay at their brand hotel anywhere ever. And to top it all off, I still see them advertising the job they offered me.
So I feel your pain and wish I could offer words of hope or comfort, but since I'm still out of work, I don't know what to say.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gem, I just don't believe this!!!! You are right, it almost is becoming a joke.
I have spent a lot of years working as an office manager in dental offices and this atty's office sounds like there might be some strife there. You know, working in smaller offices is tough if the staff isn't all on the same page....
I kindof fell for the paralegal, they ARE the backbone of their practice and it sounds like maybe they aren't appreciating her.
Who knows,, it is all conjecture at this point. But Oh my gosh,,, what a shocker,,,!! Gem, I think that I will need lots of chocolate in your behalf.
I have mentioned this earlier, but my husband sees a lot of this- he actually still sees a job being offered at a fairly large and familiar company that has been on there for over a year now. When he was utrned down for it they told him they were hiring from insdie the company. Hmmm, but he sees the job still coming up about every 2 months...
all I can say is that there are tons of us in the same situation and I keep asking what are we all supposed to be learning from this?
My fantasy would be to move somewhere exotic or tropical and have a small bed and breakfast --an exclusive one. My husband is an amazing fisherman and a scuba instructor and I figure between the two of us we could have a nice little business going.... we attended a wedding last year in Corolla N.C. and we brought all of our fishing gear (which is alot!) He was able to outfit 10 people at a time and within a couple hours every single person was able to catch a fish of some sort. My husband was patiently loading their hooks and untangling their birds nests and showing people how to cast.
Okay,, I will stop on my fantasy and come back to earth.. again, Gem, I am so sorry,, hopefully this means there is this really super position out there with your name on it and it just isn't the right time yet.

Well, during the hiring process, I was told that Paris's family doesn't own it anymore, but I won't mention any names....
LOL,,,,,, good one. Consider it banned frtom my life..
AHA! (I read my Nancy Drews - I can figure that one out!) Actually, I avoid those anyway. Now I have a REAL reason to do so!
Well you are not going to believe this one… I just got a call from the New Job, they asked if I would postpone starting until they call me back. They got in this morning to a problem and are having issues with a Paralegal that works with them about wanting more money and he is “very sorry” but since that is the “backbone” of their company until they get this resolved they don’t want to bring me on. They said she wants more money and now they might not be able to afford me!
How is that for a kicker!
How is that for a kicker!
This is just plain ............
.... Hug!!!! So many talented people out there, ................... we're going to need to do something to fix this soon.
