Hi..everyone this is Jennifer as I purchased her in Dec 2004......

I paid £400 and decided to restore her 1st thing I did was cut out mk4 rear lights and weld in an old mk1 rear panel from waist down.............

then I removed engine and rusty front panel .........

and welded in a new front panel...............

then I used a hot air gun and removed old waxoil and rubbed down underside and applied 3M body shultz.............

then I cut out 2 squares in rear valance

then I gave her a good rubdownand sent her to a spray shop to have her painted..................

and then I started to rebuild her............

then I cleaned and rubbed down Mini 1100 special wheels........

then sent them to spray shop............

and fitted them with road legal race tyers Yokohama 032Rs and fitted them to car............

then I installed twin tanks and boot board...............

then I put together MK1 boot lid and fitted it to car..............

all I need to do now is wait for the Newton Commerical complete MK1 tarten red/grey/gold brocade interior.......hope you like so far.............

I am so jealous. Whats the average income in the UK? I want to be able to find a Mini in the backyard for 400.

That order is oh about $3000 us dollars plus shipping from the uk. I have a similar wish list but I can't get it until the US economy gets out of the toilet and the exchange rate gets a little better.

Don't forget Mercy - 400 British Pounds = $700 in TODAY's market...mk1leg, that was what, about/close to $800 in 2004? Still a great deal, though!

mk1leg - that's awesome! I must live vicariously - I don't have the time, and I have a husband who frowns on me having too many vehicles. My boss has a 1977 MG Midgett that the husband won't let me buy, although she wants more than mk1leg got Jennifer for....Maybe I can talk him into the classic Mini I saw for sale the other day.....

Judging by your progress and attention to detail so far, something tells me this car's going to be a winner on the street and at the shows.

This is exactly what I mean when I say AWESOME DOCUEMENTATION. The work is being done correctly, and no expense is being spared. The best part of all, and this is my opinion only, it will not be raced.

Not that there's anything wrong with racing, it's been in my blood for longer then I can remember. This car is just too nice to be beat up on a race track. I don't think anyone will argue the point.

Nice job, and please, keep up the excellent job your doing with the pictures and posts. I'll be watching from now on.....

John

Are you keeping the white Rover-style mirrors? If not, let me know - I've been looking for a good used set. LOVELY car. I'm quite frankly green with jealousy.
