Looks like I am buying another, possibly two

One of the guys I work with asked me if I wanted to buy a mini, I asked about it, 1994 Mini Mayfair 1275 Automatic, with brand new mini light rims and tires, all for the princely sum of 200. I'm leaving for spain for the weekend, but I told him I would pick it up when I get back. Offered him a deposit, but told me just take care of it when I get back.

Car #2 is about to be claimed by the storage center. Talked to the guy who runs the place, they are going to take sealed bids. The car owes them 350, and the junkyard pays 100, so I am probably going to bid about 600. Its a 92 I think, Mini British Open Classic, 1275 with manual gearbox, webasto full length sunroof, gold mini lights, and the special edition seats.

Can I get a Woot Woot?

I want a 1275 for the pickup, and its too new to bring back. For the price, I can barely touch a 1275 for that over here.

Plkdb,

This is beginning to make sense. Is is possible, feasible to part it out and ebay other components--maybe even pay for your 1275 when its all said and done?

Definetely. I paid 1000 Cooper, and 150 for two 1275's along with three heads, a large bore center exhaust, two 10" tires, and a engine stand. So far I have sold the Coopers steering column for 200, and the engines for 450. I still need to sell the LHD set up, and the roof which I should have a money order in the mail any day for 400, so of the 1150 I spent, I have already made back 1050.

The only thing I want to keep off the 94 Mayfair, is the 1275, gas tank, and wheels, possibly brakes, and wiring harness. The rest will get sold.

The Britsh Open Classic if I get it, I plan on selling the seats, wheels, and the sunroof to recoup the cost.

I don't recall the year of your pickup, but since you're upgrading to the 1275, I would think the Mayfair has 8.4 servo discs, which would be better than what a stock pickup runs. Presuming the Mayfair is newer and in better shape than the pickup, are you considering just an engine swap, or wouldn't it be just as easy (or easier?) to drop the front subframes and trade out entire front drive systems?

OOPS, just went back to your first post and found that the Mayfair is an automatic....

The pickup is a 78, either way, I would like to have a 1275 in the truck, plus a spare to bring back with me. I have two options right now with the truck, keep it factory looking, or throw the sports pack arches, and wheels on it. Leaning towards keeping it original looking, with a few factory upgrades.
