What spare parts do you generally carry?

Some seem obvious (spare fuses, plugs) while others are not what I'd think of immediately (spare points).

What spares do YOU carry around in your boot "just in case" and what do you WISH you'd had with you more often?

The basic items I carry are;

Head gasket set
Starter solenoid
Solenoid
Radiator hose
Fan belt
8mm Leads
Distributor cap
Rotor arm
Condenser & Points set
Spark plugs
Fuses
12v relays
Duck tape
Assorted wire connector set
Tools
Jumper cables

During different mini events and runs I have needed to use or share these parts with other classic owners.

BTW - Gratz on the classic mini

Ash

Currently I have... a can of "fix a flat", half a quart of oil and some velcro strips. I feel like I'm living on the edge.

Changing a head gasket is simple as long as you have 15 minutes a replacement head gasket and the right tools.

This coming Sunday The Tyred & Exhausted Minis and I will be motoring to Gaydon's Mini Festival. This is a Mini World Magizne event which means there will be lots of vendors. This is the cheapest way I know to stock up on all the needed parts.

Warwickshire is a bit far for me, expecially with the North Atlantic bridge closed for repairs...

Sounds great and I wish I could go. In the US we have Mini Meet East in a few weeks - wish I could make it but I'm already booked to travel for work.

If you see anyone offering plain black cloth seats like the ones below on the cheap that doesn't mind shipping to the 'States, can you pplease, pretty please grab a card for me? These poor things have got to go.

No problem mate. There a company that makes classic leather seat cover for mini. The full set runs about 180 quid.

I will keep my eyes open for you.

Cheers,

Ash

Want to come change my head gasket?

I carry a basic toolbox, 2 quarts of oil, jumper cables, and currently until the head gasket gets fixed some coolant.

All those are good.

I'm there mate! I'll even set the tappets under the rocker cover and adjust the points in the dizzy. But you'll have to add another 15 minutes to the job though.

Yeah... with a teenager who just got her license combined with the classic, I'm thinking that I really need to become a AAA member again.

Give me a ring when you're in the US and I'll supply the beer!

Any thing you can carry in the boot. Should keep it full of spares and tools. No room for anything else. Things that you can pickup at the local auto store you can leave at home but since those are few I would get spares of everything or get AAA. Shop ebay.
