Route 66 Re-visited...

On the way down to St. Louis, after meeting Mike and Jeremy we came across this super cool service station. I wanted to stop but we just met up about 10 minutes before and I knew I would want to take my time shooting it.

I decided to go back today. Sun Shining, not freezing out and a tank full of gas.

I saw 4 MINIs on the way out there, check the thread.

When I was there an older gentleman joined me at the station and told me all about it. He remembered it when it was open, and when it was closed before it was restored. He was telling me that the only foreign car he had ever owned was a Fiat. I told him that the MINI was built by BMW and he was aware of the good reputation that they have.

On the way home I stopped in Dwight to grab a bite at That 50's Place Diner. I almost missed it at first, I drove past it and stopped at the Route 66 Cafe, took a cool picture and took off. I was just about to jump back on 55 when I saw it. I parked next to a CR/W MC. It was yummy.

In all it was a great day of motoring, and it is always cool to discover some cool places along the way.

Very cool Blake Nice pics too I might have to do a roadtrip like that sometime. My parents have a place down in TN somewhere. They've been bugging me to go down there.. I might have to do that trip in the MINI

But Kurt, the station is HB/W!!! That is why I wanted to stop with the MINI. If it had been Pink, purple, maroon, yellow, teal, white, orange I would have taken the studebaker.
