AMVIV 5
Still up in the air.
LosEee, the classic, has a bit of a oil leak.
Drop, the 02', has new tires & brakes and can't wait to get on the road.

It was actually a great run though, even if we did catch the rainy weather. I wish that the skies had been clear so we could have gone through the hills behind Oatman a few times. Best curves of the day.
Oh, and since folks are chiming in, we're about 95% sure we're coming; just need to get the time off work and reserve some place to stay. There should be atleast five cars from Denver, though the list is growing.
Edit: By the way Agro, were you (someone?) going to build an AMVIV IV overview on the site? I enjoyed looking through the previous events, and was curious to see last year too.

Didn't we run into stop 'n' stop traffic in Oatman and then ended up following a haywagon for the next 5,000 miles?
Although we traveled through pretty country the only thing I can remember, from that run, was how slow we had to move.
And that was during the week ... can you imagine how it would be on a weekend?

The Oatman run did leave on Thursday morning, largely to avoid traffic. It's a great drive, but finding somewhere to stop 80 cars for lunch in that area is problematic. The people who did it said they enjoyed it, but we got feedback that the full day runs were too long.
Valley of Fire has always been a popular run, last year was the 1st time it wasn't on the Sunday, to make it possible for all the people heading home in the Ca/Az directions and it got a HUGE turnout. So much so that the park got all upset at us. We're skipping it this year as part of our "trying to keep it fresh" challenge. Each year we have different runs than the prior year, but we try to include the directions for past runs in each year's book in case you want to do it yourself.
Yes, I'm still building the AMVIV IV review. I wanted to have it done by last June and I'm still working on it. Too much other stuff going on.

I will say that the only thing I didn't like about Thurdsay's all day run on Route 66 is that I'd spent the entire last day driving from Denver, so I was sick of sitting by Friday. That's ok though we'll go to Death Valley this year instead.
Keep up the good work Agro and crew!
Yes, we've not doing Valley of Fire this year. The route will be in the book if you want to do it yourself, but it's been on the schedule for the last 4 years and there are only so many runs you can fit in a weekend. We're trying to keep the schedule different every year so that people don't get into a "oh, I've done all the runs, why bother going" mindset.
For us (considering the distance), this will a one time only roadtrip, so we are obviously not worried about repeats. We'll will take what we can get, and try to do the Route 66 run ourselves somehow, perhaps on Thursday.

oh, OK, I wuz worried -- cuz i paid for my $5 pass into the park when i registered.
mebe i'll start a VOF thread to see who would wanna go.
The $5 prepaid park registration is for Red Rock, not VoF. Valley of Fire is a $6 entry and you CAN use a national parks pass. Red Rock is a conservation area, not a state or national park and does NOT take national parks passes.
AllBlack05S, PayPal is being uncooperative, so I don't have an accurate updated count. PayPal tech support and I have been mailing back and forth 3-5 times a day for the last 2 weeks trying to get my issues resolved. That was why I originally went into system testing. I have a knack for finding system bugs that no-one else has ever uncovered.

Or a 99 cent maragrita I'll buy
Agro is overworked. Valley of Fire is a Nevada State Park, and does NOT take the National Parks Pass. Red Rock is a Federal Govt. area, and will take the pass if you buy the $80 per year America the Beautiful Pass.
The America the Beautiful Pass is a new one, and is good at all Federal sites that charge an entrance fee. http://www.nps.gov/fees_passes.htm
I trust Steve on stuff like that. He hits a lot of the parks in the southwestern part of the US, and is our runmaster for good reason. I stand corrected. I was operating from memory.
AllBlack05S...I don't drink tequila (just don't like the taste) but I've been known to try Jack Daniels on the rocks now and then.

Ohhhh, my bad. i knew it was a bad idea to go this blonde.
so sorry. I shoulda double checked my PP reciept.
I think we all owe Agro a big drink!
