Congrats on the new job Matt. Man - you've put a lot of effort into the beer swap and it shows. Wouldn't be quite right without ya!

Well Matt, that means two things now:

One, you can start the 'Great Arizona to Dragon Caravan' this year and two, you can now attend the Inagural MITM MINIs in the Mountains event in August in Colorado.

We have lots of Moose Drool up here, plus a wealth of local microbrews. Make your plans with your new employer to be here August 10-13 2006..

Thanks for all the congrats. But I may have confused you on when I am going out there. POST-Dragon. So I'll be driving from Louisiana to North Carolina. Then back to Louisiana.

A few days after that I make the trek over to Arizona.

I'd love to do MITM Jon, depends on my employer and fundage. But I'm gonna try.

Congrats as well.
Concerning the shirts, I'm about to place my order for 2, but if you ship them, will I receive them no later than May 2 so I'll have them for the trip?

Difficult to say. But here's the process.

1. I've already let Craig know the size of the order and he has scheduled the print.
2. Late April 4th I'll take the buying option off the shirt webpage and the orders are closed.
3. I'll double check everything and send off the order to Craig in the 5th.
4. Hopefully, I'll have them in 2 to 2.5 weeks. Let's say by the 21st which has always been the plan.
5. Between April 5th and April 21st I'll prepare the shipping labels and packages for shipment so its simply a matter of stuffing the correct shirt(s) in the package and sealing it.
6. April 22nd I ship the shirts priority mail.

Now if all that happens then yes you should have your shirt by May 2nd. Priority mail is 3-5 days which would mean you'd have it by the 28th. But **** happens and there could always be a delay.

If you for certain want it for the Brew Swap event then I'd say schedule it for pick up there. If you want it prior to that then take the shipping option and believe me I'll get them out without undue delay.

I saw this the other day and thought it would be appreciated here.

The Beer Theory :

The "smartest" thing the Cliff Clavin character ever said in the comedy series
Cheers was when explaining the buffalo theory to his buddy Norm. It went
something like this....

"Well ya see Norm, it's like this: A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as
the slowest buffalo. So when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we all know, kills brain cells. But naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine.

Makes sense to me.

I'll be cutting off shirt orders tomorrow at 5PM. It's necessary for me to do that to get the order in on time. I'll need to review and check the orders to make sure I don't mess up.

So if you haven't ordered a shirt yet and want to, get a move on.

Beer Theories

Sometimes when I reflect on all the beer I drink, I feel ashamed. Then I
look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of
their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be
out of work and their dreams would be shattered. I think, "It is
better to drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish
and worry about my liver."

Per an email to Matt, I am posting a pic of "The SmokeWolf" that will be with us in attendance at our cabin at Fontana. Will this help with the Meat Swap?

Oh, and I hope there is room for my husband to attend. I didn't put him down on my original head count since I didn't know if he would still be around. But if SmokeWolf stays then he stays with it. As nuts as I am about my MINI, he matches me in craziness over that smoker

Another +1! This is why I emailed everyone to ask if they had a guest!

Your hubby is welcome but please people, stop messing with my attendance count!

That smoker should take care of any grilling needs we would have.

Guess what folks, 1 month till the Brew Swap

Swap Full, Waiting List Closed!

Ok, the swap is full and I have several people on the waiting list. Therefore I have now closed the waiting list and no more people will be added to the swap for any reason.

If you emailed/PM'd me and I replied that you are on the waiting list then sit tight. I am working on finding the space. If I find it you will be added.

But if you are reading this and have never contacted me before now for the swap, it is too late. Sorry, but we're overbooked as is (so to speak).

I finally found out where to get Thirsty Dog. Turns out they have it at Warehouse Beverage on Mayfield. I picked up some Hoppus Maximus IPA and Old Leghumper porter.

The bad news is Thirsty Dog no longer brews their bottled beer. It's a contract brew. Still good though. They do still brew their drink-on-premesis beer.

So now I have 3 sixers, want to bring at least a case. I also found some Buckeye Brewing Hippie IPA and Martian Marzen. I don't know if anyone else here is familiar with The Brew Keeper, but that's their brew. They're a "homebrew on premesis" type operation. They also sell 22 oz bottles of their brew in some area stores. I may bring some if there's a demand.

I call dibs on one of those old leghumper beers.

I'm considering giving away a prize for best named beer. Gotta figure out how to work that. Might put together the top 3 after I get everone's details then put it to an applause vote.

In addition to the Railbender from Erie Brewing and Yuengling I'm bringing from PA, I'm making arrangements, by request, to bring some Full Sail Pale Ale and Deschutes Mirror Pond Ale. If there is any other beers from the Northern California area that people are interested in, let me know, and I'll see what I can arrange for the beer swap.
