3 Child Seats!

The wife is preg... we just got the 1st ultrasound and I almost fell out of my seat. TWINS!
LOL - so 1st thing I say of course is "we're gonna need a bigger car". LOL!

Has anyone here fit 2 rear facing and 1 forward facing seats in a CM? I'm curious if we could put the forward facing seat on the drivers side and the 2 rear facing seats middle and left? I guess I could test fit it - it would be TIGHT...
Otherwise i'll be shopping for a larger vehicle here this spring.

Whoa! Congrats!!!

I'm going to say no way on getting three child seats in the back. I hate to say it, but the Countryman is not going to be a good three child car until they are all out of the safety seats.

Thanks!
Yeah think you're right.
I think a CX9 or XC90 is in our future.

We have an older CX-9 as our Mini stable mate. Lots of versatility in that vehicle, but still a little tight in the middle row. How old is the older kid? Booster seat, or full car seat still?

According to "The Car Crash Detective" website, there are several combinations of car seats that will fit 3-across in an F60.

Probably not just any car seats will fit, but ones that are especially narrow can apparently be made to work.

The one we have now is 3 and he's still full car seat mode.
The problem I think with the F60 is that 2 of the car seats will be rear facing - those are wide and deep. It would be brutal long term trying to make it work.
I also like the Kia Telluride.

The Clek Foonf is rear-facing, and can later be converted to front facing when they're big enough. I have a rear-facing Foonf in my car right now. There's an infant insert for it, as well.

The Clek Flo is bascially a cheaper Foonf, so that's rear facing. The Diono Radians are RF, also.

Not saying you will be happy trying to deal with 3 car seats in the back of an F60 all the time, but just giving options if you really want to try and make the F60 work.

Good luck!

I'll look again!
The more I think about it the more I don't think it's big enough a vehicle but - it would be nice to have options...

Yeah, it's going to be tight... especially since you're used to one and now will jump right to 3! But you're right, it's nice to have options if you're really attached to the F60 or whatever.

So the challenge with these is that they aren't carriers too. Can't unclip and carry or clip into a stroller... which is super useful with babies...
Shame...

Yeah, those are definitely convenient when they fall asleep in the car or whatever. Hard to say if those would fit. You could look up the max width of the carriers you're thinking of and compare to the widths of the seats that the site says work, but you almost have to try it to find out for sure, unless you can find someone else who has tried a specific combination.

If you buy the seats before the kids arrive, you could try it before selling the car, but yeah, tough to say.

Go with the BMW X5 plenty enough room for 3 car seats maybe 4. Just got my X5 in July. The wife drives the F60. Both of these vehicles are the best we have ever owned.

You can fit 3, just need to pick the correct ones. I've had 2 Diono Rainiers on the outboard seats with an UPPAbaby Mesa between them. The Rainiers were front facing, but you can rear face them. Getting 2 infant carriers back there with another front facing will be a little tougher though if that's what you're looking for.

I don't think we'll fit our 2 UPPAbaby messas and a forward facing seat in the CM. Even if we were only needing to fit the Messa's in the CM both driver and passenger seats would have to be so far forward it would be horrible.

Yeah, your best best would be to try Diono Radians three across and see if you have enough front seat room with two of them rear facing. I think you'd have to use convertibles and not infant carriers due to the depth the infant carriers require. Just one infant carrier works because you can put it in the middle and it can fit between the front seats.

Yeah - I guess we could figure something out if we absolutely had to but I don't think this is the vehicle for us with 3 children who will be in safety seats for the next decade. If it was just 2 we'd make it work, but 3 would be brutal. We also really want to use our UppaBaby Car Carrier seats which clip in and out. They were SO useful with our 1st because you can simply unclip it and clip it into a stroller or carry it in to the house etc.

Thanks all for your suggestions!
