front seats giving more rear space

A thing thats a little annoying is the small space given to the passengers of the rear seats, when they want to come out of the car. Its strange that the front seats (especially the codriver seat) will not slide more to the front although it has a lot of space in front of it when sliding forwards. Is this a matter of a setting to the seats "railway" (or what ever its called) so setting it appropriately will make the seat slide and stop as front as possible?

Not many of us use the rear seat. I think I've had only 2 passengers sitting crosswise in the rear seat during the entire time I've had my '02. Not worth the extra cost of the seats.

In fact, I think MINI would get a lot of takers for a rear seat delete kit like they had on the R53 JCW GP car.

Sorry I can't help.

Well its not like you will always use the 2 rear seats but why not get the best of the space you can get? It might be a minor adjustment to make the seats stop a little further front, 5cm might be helpful enough!

I'll take a look at the mechanism today on my '02 and see if there is an obvious fix. We haven't gotten the '09 in yet, but I think the design is the same. Some of the issue may be the "mechanical memory" action that remembers where the seat should go back to.

It'd be nice if the rear seats were on rails so they could slide further back. I hardly use the boot when I have passengers, so..
