LED Headlight Performance?

I am considering the purchase of a 2018 Countryman Cooper S All4. The car comes equipped with the adaptive LED headlights. I'm adamant about getting the best possible headlights for any car I own and since the IIHS wasn't enthralled with the headlight performance (https://www.bmwblog.com/2017/08/04/m...ck-headlights/) I was wondering if owners here can chime in and tell me about their real-world experience with the LED headlights? I have the HIDs c/w headlight washers on my current ride, an R60 Countryman, and they are great.

I think this is one of those instances where you're going to have to find someone that is willing to let you drive their car. You might be getting a little too wrapped around the data. I do that a lot too! I have no issues with my head lights other than I would love to have some fog lights, but I totally don't need them.

I have a '18 JCW countryman

Appreciate the reply! Actually, I don't think I'm getting too wrapped around the data. I had a 2013 BMW 320i with halogen headlights and the IIHS was bang with that one! They were terrible. That said, the IIHS tends to rate poorly vehicles which I would think should be high which is kind of the point you're making LOL. BMW (and Audi) are known for their innovation in headlight systems so they should score well you would think.

I have a 2019 with LEDs. I can say that until you brought it up, i have never given my headlights a second thought.
Although I do live in a city environment so I'm not driving on pitch black country roads.
But I've also never heard of anyone complain about their headlights.

Coming from a 2011 Countryman with halogen to a new Countryman with LED was a big change for me. I'm not into the data like you are so this is very subjective. On my old car I was always wondering if my lights were on, on my new car it's plenty bright and lights up the road.

Can you test drive the car at night time to determine if you like them?

Driving with factory LED headlight is huge over Xenon. For a day driving an F56 and F55 with LEDs over my stock Xenons on my R58/R52 my eyes had to adjust for a day to the brightness.

I had an 2016 R60 All4-S. Lights were incredible. Now have an 2019 F60 All4-S, and the lights are just about as amazing. Maybe not quite as bright in my 2016 but still bright, confident and ample. Frequently drive in heavy rain (Florida) and they are amazing.

I'm picking the car up tomorrow afternoon. 2018 Countryman Cooper S All4 in Island Blue with white roof and mirrors. And the bespoke LED lights, of course! The previous owner checked the box for every conceivable option so this thing is loaded with tech. I'm really interested to see how the adaptive LED lights work. I'm expecting that they will be awesome.

Took the car for a good drive in the dark just now. LED headlights are very bright and very white. As for reach, they don't have the same width and depth of beam as my R60's HIDs but I think the R60's lights were aimed a bit high anyway. They are very good whereas the R60's were excellent. That said they are night and day (yes, I meant that LOL!) better than the crap-tastic halogens that I had on my 2013 BMW 320i xDrive. Overall, I am satisfied. The cornering lights are pretty cool too.
