Safelite Glass?

Hello all, a truck kicked a rock into my windshield and put a large crack in it. My insurance wants to replace the windshield with Safelite glass, but I have the rain sensing wipers. Has anyone had their windshield on the F60 replaced with Safelite glass? Do the sensors work properly after? I hate the thought of aftermarket glass.

I had a replacement by Safelite already on my 2019 SE, it was an OEM piece. You should be adamant about getting an OEM replacement windshield. The wipers work fine, but I can tell they F'd the install on the other camera sensor, the adhesive is partially applied back to the glass. Occasionally I'll get the city brake warning out of nowhere or much earlier than before. They also bent the A pillar covers so I demanded a replacement set. Each tech varies but make sure you check their work.

My ins. guy is hooked up with safelite but I take mine to an indie that gets OEM and does a proper job of it and the insurance still covers it. Look in to that.

I've had Safelite replace glass a dozen times over the years on many cars including most recently our R-59 with all the 'gizmos' (auto wipers, auto headlights etc)

ONE TIME I was not happy (on a Honda - it had a wind whistle after they replaced the glass) and with one phone call they were back out the next day and redid the entire job with all new parts and nothing said but sorry sorry .....

it IS a franchise & my experience has been from various offices - coast to coast - every location is different but for ME .... no second thoughts about going here.

I'd use SFL again with absolutely ZERO reservations . . .

They did get me OEM glass since they could not locate an F60 windshield with the sensor cut out. I got it back and now there are airbubbles where the sensor is. It is going back next week.

Safelite Glass?

I researched this a few years ago. Turns out OEM is not exactly the same as "MINI windshield". If you really want the best for your MINI request Safelight to get you the windshield from a MINI dealer; you will know the difference because it will have the MINI logo embedded (as opposed to aftermarket or OEM). Insurance will only cover after market, or if you are lucky, OEM but not original manufacturer (A.K.A. MINI) windshield; you will have to cover the additional cost yourself (roughly double the cost of Safelight aftermarket).

Yep, it will have the MINI logo and the little Doggy picture of "spike" on the glass.

So good news. My windshield was ordered from Mini with the Mini logo on it. The was reset as there were air bubbles. Everything works.
