Why the hell when its raining out and you need to roll the windows down to pay a toll or something, the inside door glass gets all streaky. When it dries you can't see out of it. I drive around with armor glass cleaner wipes in my trunk.:???:

Bad weatherstripping lets water and apparently other stuff (we've heard road salt!) into the door. The water in the door also sometimes freezes, and cause problems actually opening the door.

It seems that this is a particularly tricky problem to nail down...not unlike mysterious rattles...and hence hasn't received too much attention from MINI. If it bothers you, I'd ask my service folks as a start, and then take it from there.

Good luck!

To prevent the door freezing to the frame, buy some Glycerine from the drug store. Its a clear liquid, and very cheap. Just apply to the rubber seals around the door frame, with a cotton ball, and close the door. You door will NOT freeze to the frame. It may need to be applied every so often during the winter, but at least you won't be frozen out of your MINI or damage the seal when trying to break in!

Thank you very much for the Glycerine tip! It is something we do not use much in our day to day life so rarely think about!

That's a priceless tip, thanks! Sounds like something from "Hints from Heloise" Is there a tip repository someplace (here?) where these pearls can be retrieved when memory fails a year from now?

Here's another item you might want to consider. I'm going to order a set for my (pending) vehicle:

ClimAir "PROFI" and "MASTER" wind and rain deflectors

Peace,

Mark of Pemburnia

After driving a vehicle which would be best described as "water resistant" for the previous 7 years, I really dont notice these sorts of things. I've seen it snow through my heater vents! In comparison, the MINI feels like a futuristic space ship!

But I do keep a little spray bottle of vinegar in the car for quick touch-ups for the windows of my MINi because I hvae a St. Bernard that gets the windows all sticky and gooey

Great tip for freezing windows...but I think that the problem some are encountering is water actually IN the doors.
