Question +1 tire size

Has anyone installed +1 tires on their 2013 Countyman S? My car is running the stock 17" rims and the 205-55r17 tires, and I'm looking to put on 225-50r17's. They will be 0.1" taller, but will be 0.7" wider. The new tires will fit the stock rim width. My main reason for the change is to open up more run flat tire options. I have been using the oem brand and style for about 4 sets now and wanted to try a different brand that has comparable wear rating and better handling. I have a tire in mind but wanted to see if there is a mounting / rub issue anyone has run into.

Regards,

I don't have a Countryman, so take my comments with a grain of salt... I don't think you'll have any issue with rubbing, and if you do, it should be minimal and only in the front. (Minis seem to be tight in the front to the struts)

That's the size I ran on my 2012 Countryman for about 7 years with no issues. You're GTG.

From my experience, I did put 225/50 r17 on my OEM Double Spoke Wheels (7x17 et 50) from my 2011 CMS. these were just fine

If you go to 225/55, There are 2 weld tabs in the rear weld arches (one on each side) that you need to worry about. These poke out just enough to rub the inside of the tires sidewall when you are turning at regular speeds. At low speeds its fine put when exiting and entering the motorways you will rub.

I'm up a size too I realize I'm on 18 inch rims but could help give you guidance.

Currently using: 225/50R-18 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 been running great without issue for 20k miles.

Thinking about adding 15mm spacers and going to 235/50R (or 45R) -18 Firestone
Firehawk Indy 500
