Rear hatch button?

Is it possible to add a rear hatch release button to the R60??
It's starting to get annoying to shut off the car and use the remote to pop the hatch when I need to get stuff out real quick. This is a non comfort access equiped R60 of course.

So you don't have a little button there just below the hood release? It took me a while to realize there was one.

Can you not unlock your doors and then actuate the rear switch?

I don't *have* a rear switch. That's what I want to add on if possible. (See photo in previous comment)

Same thing. No button back there either.

Edit:
And trying to open the hatch (after unlocking all doors) leads to nothing. You never hear the actuator unlock. It only unlocks via the remote.

It must be codable then.

On mine, if the doors are unlocked, the hatch is. I frequently use this at like Walmart for grocery pickup... unlock the doors and have the attendant push the emblem switch on the hatch... poof, open.

I'll have to dig through ncs expert tonight but I've never seen anything for that and I've enabled everything that could be enabled lol. I was going to take the hatch apart and check the connections on the emblem button. (Emblem housing is called a button according to the repair manual.)

So you're saying that the remote unlocks the rear, but not the lock switches? And, you hear it working with the remote, but not the internal switches? Seems like wiring to the rear hatch is OK then. Perhaps the issue is in the internal controls/connection only then.

Remote works 100% for all functions.
Internal lock switch works for doors.
According to the owners manual, the only 2 ways to open the trunk is via remote or by pushing the hatch mini emblem up.
Remote works, emblem does not.

That makes sense there according to the manual. For the emblem to work the hatch/vehicle would have to be unlocked... If you use the remote to unlock the car (not the hatch button), would the emblem work then? I understand at that point you would just use the specific button on the remote for the latch. I assume multiple internal pushes for unlock do nothing to enable the emblem? Have you tried both internal unlock buttons?

Have tried both unlock via center console unlock, and via remote. I do not have a button specific to the hatch on the interior of the car. (See pic a few comments back)
Remote option is the only thing that works. There looks to be a connection on the back of the rear emblem button that I'm going to investigate tonight after work. It's only 2 wires, so I assume it's a closed loop system. Will try jumpering them together to see if it triggers the latch.

So it looks like you found a disconnected connector with pins that have come loose from the plastic base?

I wish it was that easy. The connector is broken as well as the pins where the connector was.
I've got a whole new unit coming that has the connector on it from a junkyard. $30 for a connector and wires.. yay....
I was looking to make new connector ends on the cable myself but the pins inside the mini emblem switch are just so tiny and close together.. I'll just solder on a new cable with connector on it.

I did verify it does work when connected together and also when contacts are touched together, so.. that's good.
I'm just surprised that someone didn't fix this before.
I found it so annoying to have to use the remote at all times to unlock the hatch.
