Bluetooth Phone Question

I have a question about my android phone and the Bluetooth in my 2013 CM. I don't have mini connected. Is it possible to switch Bluetooth call from car to handset then listen to radio? My radio stays in Bluetooth call mode even though I'm talking through phone instead of car. If I switch to radio, car causes phone to hang up. Does the iphone behave the same?

I have the same issue with iPhone. Specifically, when I am connected on a call with Bluetooth on the iphone 5, I am able to switch to the phone to talk on the phone itself (with out Bluetooth) but for some reason it remains connected to the Mini and will not go back to radio until I hang up. Also, while on a call when I try to turn the Mini off while talking thru bluethtooth I notice I remain connected until I hang up.

Thanks. I just don't get it... Why do Honda/Toyota get it right the first time?

The way Mini integrated the Bluetooth is $tupid. No bluetooth music streaming available and the way it handles phone calls? Come on Mini engineers! Get it right...

Is there a way to switch from Bluetooth to phone when I turn off the car?

In other cars, when I remove the key it automatically switches over. But in the mini it stays connected until I end the call.

I agree. I tend to think that is the carrot ($) to get you to upgrade to mini connected. I am looking at the $89 tune2air for this - I have an iPhone and have not purchased it and therefore can't make any claims. It is supposed to provide handsfree bluetooth streaming audio with steering controls and not interfere with the bluetooth handsfree telephone function.

I am using the tune2air with my Mini without the Connect, it works very good and the sound is great on my base speakers ..

music will stop when the phone rings and music back on when calls end
and every sounds from the phone will go through it.

Thank you for the positive feedback on the tune2air. I have the base radio too so that's great. It sounded fine to me in my 2010 so I didn't see a need for the HK this time either. The tune2air (plus Apple lightning adapter) seems like a reasonably affordable and easy solution out there for providing the bluetooth audio piece that MINI left out of the base radio.

My workaround in this situation is to tap the speakerphone button on and then off on the handset. This moves the call back to handset and you can continue talking away from the car Bluetooth system.

This is exactly how the Bluetooth in my Mondeo ('08) behaves. Before we start blaming Mini this behaviour is probably due to the underlying Bluetooth module that is used.

Tried this speakerphone trick. Still didn't work. Bluetooth in car stayed connected to phone and I couldn't hear the radio.

It's the same issue in the E91 3 series we owned, we also have a VW Touran at home, when the phone rings the system gives you the option to pick up on the handset or via the cars bluetooth, if you pick up with the handset the radio continues to play, it will even continue to stream from the phone whilst you talk, if you pick up using the car system the music stops. The R60 audio, phone system, trip computer......is all but identical in format and function to the E90 3 series.

Has anyone tried turning off the blue tooth on the Mini? In theory that should make the call audio go back to the phone.
