Daytime running lights

Our Black CM also has black headlight lenses, and I have noticed that it's not easy to see on bright sunny days, so I decided to turn on the daytime running lights.

But I have noticed that turning on the daytime running lights turns on all the lights that would come on when you turn on the headlights, including the taillights. Should this be happening? This was not the case on our R53, nor other cars that we have owned.

^^ Its the silliest thing ever, isn't it. And in Canada, we don't get the option of turning it off, so all the lights are on all the time

It sort of sounds like someone wanted to take a shortcut with the software programming.

All mine come on. Because of that, I just leave the lights on, as they have an auto-off function. Also, with the lights on, when you unlock the car, the parking lights turn on, I like that feature. Not sure if it does it with Daytime Running Lights setting.

Funny thing is, my car (canadian car), the back tail lights turn on too. Not just the front xenons. It's highly annoying.

I did not enable DRLs for this reason. If I want to run the lights I will turn them on and leave the switch in the on position...they turn off when you turn off the car just like the DRLs. I figure the xenon bulbs would last longer not being turned on as much.
