Garage door opener problem?

For those of you who have the optional garage door opener built into the rear view mirror, sometimes I have to push the button several times in order for it it "take". The buttons have a rubbery feel to them so it's hard to tell when I'm getting a solid push. Does anybody else have this issue or is it even an issue? I'm wondering if I have a case for getting the mirror replaced or not.

It's funny you mention that, mine initially did not want to accept the program from the key fob style transmitter, once I located the antique brick size remote and spent the $12 on a battery to get it going the mirror accepted the program. I noticed in the garage (multi car buildings garage) it has exceptional range... Outside the door less the 20 feet away sometimes I'm pressing three times to get it to open.... But inside 20 odd spots away it will open the door no worry... Odd ball question do you have a mirror cap on it? I know some folks that have carved\trimmed them to fit. Anyone here care to chime in...

Mash it hard and hold it for a couple seconds. That's just the way it is.

Edit: Also works with the accelerator pedal

but don't press it too hard...seems like the switch is rather flimsy and easy to break.

put my Checkered Mirror Cap on... It seemed to work about the same... tomorrow when I'm relaxed I will trim the buttons out... The cap is so thin..

I have found the best way is to place fingers on top of the mirror and press the button from below with my thumb so effectively I am "squeezing" the mirror.
