Advice on All4 on lot

Been looking at the CM All4 for about a week now and have gone to the dealer twice. The only problem is there's not much stock in the color choices I like - either Cosmic Blue or Black. I prefer the black with black roof, black rims, and black interior (leatherette). My local dealer has something close, but there are some features I would choose not to pay for, including:
  • leather/cloth pure red - I think the looks pretty cool, but I was unimpressed with it (actually seems cheaper than leatherette), and I am unsure of how it will look after my dogs and kids ride in the car
  • Harmon/Kardon sound system - just don't care about this
  • rear bench seat - actually, not sure how I feel about this - I like the sporty look and feel of the rear buckets, but these may be more practical
Other than those, I would want to add the premium package, which is the same cost as deleting the leather/cloth and Harmon/Kardon above.

Trying to think whether it makes sense to get this car on the lot, which I love the look of, and live with some of the features I would not get and those I would rather not have, or order one. With antoher kind of car, I'd be inclined to take what was on the lot, but seeing how I can customize a MINI, it's appealing to me to get what I want. At the same time, from what I've read, I don't think it's possible to order a 2012 and it seems like it would take several months, at this point, to take delivery on a 2013. I'd rather not wait until December or later to take delivery.

MSRP is $31,400 either way; dealer is offering $1500 off one on the lot.

Thoughts/advice? Here she is:

I considered the red cloth at first, looks great; I think leatherette is a better option but ended going with the black leather in the end, love it! I am very happy with the black on black; looks great when clean. I find myself washing about once a week, so be ready for that

Problem solved. At the dealer ordering now and getting the royal gray with anthracite. Hadn't seen that color in person before and really like it. Not as intense/sporty as the black, but a little more subdued, which probably suits me a little better

Ordered this past Wednesday. Dealer emailed me Saturday to say that the order has been placed but they haven't received a production number yet. They told me there were only 6 allocated spots left for the dealership for the CM. was still surprised that I could get a '12 order in this late in the year.

Question - I ordered both adaptive and black headlight housings. Both the brochure and website says you can't, but dealer told me you can. What happens if that doesn't work after order is placed?

Very cool idea on the wheels.

What color roof & mirrors did you go for?

My only advice based on what you posted above is to order the Harman/Kardon. I'm no audiophile, and usually I can't tell the difference between a good sound system and a bad one, but in the CM the difference is dramatic. I usually listen to talk radio/NPR in the car, but having just spent a few days in a dealer loaner without HK, the base sound system is truly terrible. Even bluetooth phone calls sound better with the HK.

Anyway, that's my advice. At the very least, try out both and be sure. Enjoy your new car!

Second on the agreement with the H/K. I'm not an audiophile either, have a partial hearing loss, listen mostly to voice podcasts while commuting, and the base audio in my other MCS suited me fine. But the H/K on my CM sounds terrific and I consider it well worth the cost.

Question: I ordered the car with my MA last Wednesday afternoon at the dealership, and followed-up on Saturday, but even a/o today (Thursday), I have no production number. Is that timefrane normal? I beleive I read that you should expect one within 24 business hours after ordering.

Production number receipt varies based on your dealer's allotment and where they are within it. When I ordered my car, it took two weeks for a production number. Have no fear--it's comin'.

Thanks - that's reassuring. Was frustrating since they told me they had 6 production slots left and if I wanted one I needed to place my oder immediately. It's been a week-and-a-half and still nuthin'.

Would like to be able to start tracking it!

The dealers try to make it sound like there's a shortage on CM's, but it's absolute nonsense. The dealer closest to where I live is advertising $2000 off MSRP for any in stock CM.

Since I haven't heard anything and no email, I'll give it a few more days, but I would be inclined to go to another dealer. The most they were willing to give me off MSRP was $1200.

Which dealer in Jersey? I'm not too far away in CT.

Well, I guess I ahould have beem more patient. After not hearing anything for a week, I received a call this evening that there is a production number, and when I went to the OL, I saw:

Scheduled for Production and a VIN is listed. So life is good!

When I ordered my ALL4 a couple days ago, my MA told me he'd call me when my car was scheduled for production. Impatient soul that I am, I took the production # off my order form and plugged it into the owners lounge yesterday.

Point is, for some reason, my MA was reluctant to have me check the OL prior to it being scheduled.
