i got the hk upgrade...i see the speakers are labeled harmon kardon, but nothing on the radio is labeled hk. in fact, from the photo on the miniusa site..it looks like the standard radio. any way of telling?

 

If the speakers are labeled HK, you got what you paid for. The radio unit itself is the same.

 

Radio is the same, HK is an amp and upgraded speakers. I am not sure what you mean anyway of telling. You don't believe the HK labeling? :-)) There should be subwoofers under the front seats.

 

speakers are labeled. i thought perhaps the radio would be different-perhaps a label on that too. i admitted that i didn't research this item too much but it does sound terrific.

 

Trust me, the HK upgrade (speakers & amp) is well worth the money. I have a loaner right now with the base speakers, and it's a night and day difference.

No speakers under the seat.

Back of the head units read Alpine. Other components are Hk.

 

Check the configurator for the body style you are interested in. This is not an upgrade per-say in the manner that it can be done after the car is built.

 

Will check under my seats but till I find otherwise I stand corrected.

 

Apparently the "8th speakers" MINI purports to have in the HK System has to do with the style of the speakers in the back which are simple coaxial....

.....Your right! Upgrade for the next Gen of HK Systems. Check under front seats and feel around a bit you should find them there.

 

what year did they start doin the under seat then ? if mine doesn't i have a 03 hk system ..
