Help! Where does this screw belong?

After installing my Escort 9500ci, which required the removal of the kick panels and almost all of the cover pieces from the left hand side of the car, I have a screw left over. My fault for getting in a situation where we had to rush through the install. Anyway, here is the screw:

It's about 1 inch/26 mm long. The threads are cut diagonally. It's a pretty distinctive screw. There were two of these. One was under the screw cover marked "Airbag" on the left side cover piece that goes from the headliner down to the vent along the windshield. I can't remember where this one was.

Any help is much apprecitated!

Knowing if it were me I would obsess over this, I suggest going through the entire process again until you find where it belongs. Gotta be something to fasten molding, or such, into the main frame of the car. Go for it!

With the theads that are on that bolt, it has to go into the metal structure of the car. I would expect it to secure the dashboard cross bracing to the body. It has to be that type of application.

Yeah, that makes sense. I have not had the time to take it apart again. That was a long process...

Thanks.

Under the airbag cap is the only place I saw this type of screw and I just had a lot of the trim pieces off.

Without being too political, isn't that the question in Iowa today?

Using realoem.com, I found the part number: 07149175903 (Oval-head machine screw w. scrape point). The cross-reference shows that this part is used in only two places, which is underneath the Airbag cap on the A-pillar covers. Apparently this extra screw appeared out of nowhere.

This is driving my crazy.

Mini isn't all bad. They supplied a spare screw just in case you lost one.

I'm VERY interested in knowing more about the 9500ci install. I'm looking to go the remote detector route myself. Any notes/pics/advice? A mini-specific how-to guide perhaps?

No need to include the step where you forget where the extra screw goes since I'll probably try to opt out of that step.

Thanks!
