Downshift Lunge issue?

Hey gang, I finally got my ALL4 last week and have a great time so far driving it. As with all new cars i knew there was going to be kinks but i have a few that seem to trouble the dealer. The biggest problem that the dealer blew off today was that from around 20-40mph i will let off the gas and the car will lunge forward or almost feel like it downshifts. If i am sport mode it is a much more aggresive push forward and undrivable in my mind.
Is this normal for the ALL4 or do i really have an issue here...I cant see a car be released with that kind of kickback in the drivetrain when i let off the gas...The dealer said it was the ALL4 drivetrain and it was normal but i do not remember that during my test drives...thanks for the help,
B

I guess you have automatic tranny? I certainly don't encounter anything like what you describe on my manual.

Nothing like that either in my manual CM. Before I placed my order, all I had to test drive was a all4S and a front wheel none s... all automatics and never encountered your issues. I think your service department needs to reevaluate. Ask to drive another automatic to compare.

Yes, this is an issue with the auto tranny. I have never noticed anything like
this on any other car I have driven, but as it shifts from 3rd to second or second to first there is a "lunge" forward. Very odd and a little dangerous IMO.
Especially in Sport mode.

1st time it happened it pushed me forward as I was slowing up for a light and had my foot off the brake at the precise time it decided to jump forward. Had to get back on the brake
real quick to compensate for the lunge.

I take delivery next week but I sure don't remember this on my test drive.

I sounds like an Auto issue not an All4 issue. The autos do like to make it known when they shift but in no way have I ever felt unsafe.

I have an automatic, I haven't experienced the lunge. On occasion when slowing down via the transmission it feels like it goes into neutral which gives a slight sensation of accelerating...
Also, at times, it will downshift somewhat abruptly from 3rd to 2nd, or 2nd to 1st...
Have you tried downshifting in manual mode to see if the same happens?

Thanks for the heads up...I have to go back in to the dealer in a few day so they can fix the trim that is falling off so i think i will have them drive a new one with me and then mine to see if there is any difference...I know a little lunge could be allowed but this is almost like a jerk when in sport mode..Maybe i should have gotten the manual ha...

The sport mode will slam the gears as it was intended to do so. Maybe a video could help us empathize if your situation is exasperated when compared to a "normal" downshift.
