Display External Temperature?

I've looked in the CountryMan Owner's Manual, and I've searched the posts here, and I've not been able to see anything about being able to display the external temperature!

Something so little, but something that was usually just "there" in other cars.

Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance!

Temp on the tach display! Is that what you need? Or are you talking about a computer display via the NAV unit?

It is on the tach.

as old81 says it comes up below the tach if you cycle to it with the button on the left stalk.

One of the things our 07 Mini allowed for was displaying the temp on the upper HUD window in the tach. Currently the CM seems to only allow speed to be displayed there. (I haven't been able to figure out how to change that display)

The bottom HUD display cycles temp, mpg, current mpg, distance until empty tank and a few others that I can't remember off the top of my head. If you are like me, you probably care about your current MPG more than the outside temp.

Considering we have that HUGE speedo in the center, the digital speed readout in the tach is redundant. Would love to be able to change it, just not finding out how.

I don't feel that way, the huge speedo in the middle is in such an akward spot for daily use (I love the look over all, but very poor function). In my 2008 R56 I always had it set to the digital speedo. In the CM I have Nav. so you can barely see the center speedo unless your really looking. Still I don't know why they changed the option.

It is still available the old way if you find someone near you that can program with NCSExpert. The setting is DigitalSpeedPermanent=nicht activ. On R60's it's set to activ.

21.6 mpg average? Good lord, my friend, how have you been driving? Thumbs up for "spirited" driving!

PS - I think your video is about as clear as it could be for folks who haven't yet found the temp display, so +1 for that too.

I'm with Harp on this.

I enjoyed my Mini Clubman '08 for 4 1/2 years and got 'very' used to have the temp in the upper HUD display (inside the tach) and feel the speed is a bit redundant.

I have yet to figure out a way to change what goes in this display on my new 2012 Countryman (which I do enjoy!). Anyone have any thoughts or know how??

Check out the MINI coding thread. There is an option in the software to change it from speed to time and temp with NCS.

I just traded in my 2010 hardtop for a 2012 cm and was shocked at the downgrade. I asked the dealer and they said if I made a change like this it would void my warranty.

Tippykayak,
What MPG are you getting? I'm just a hair over 22 myself.

Major lie by the dealer.

*sigh*

Has anyone read GeoffreyM's post?

He is informing you of the way the R60 can be modified (using NCS Expert) to let you cycle what is displayed in the upper-half of the tachometer display! If you haven't made coding changes with NCS Expert, you may want to see if someone in your area is familiar with the procedure.

More information can found in the Modifications::Electrical::Countryman-Specific Coding - R60 Guide thread.
