SIRIUS Radio Issue

I turned the car on today and turned my SIRIUS radio on. When I went to pick a channel I noticed they had all reset. I then checked my FM settings and they too had reset. I have the non NAV basic unit.

Anyone have any ideas on what might have happened?

Battery was not drained, car started right up. I didn't leave lights on or anything electrical. I didnt open the windows while the car was off or run the stereo more than the few seconds between pressing the stop engine button and removing the key.

This is not a huge issue, but it is really annoying.

Anyone?

They are tied to the profile associated with the key. Did you use the same key fob both times?

Yeah. I filed the second key when we bought the car with the purchase documents.

Also I am remembering now that the dealership set up stations for the car when we bought it as well, but none of those have retained either. So this has really happened two times now. I am sure I must be doing something wrong though. This doesnt seem to be anything I have ever heard of.

Perhaps you hit the FM or SAT button and changed from FM1 to FM2 or FMA
Sat1 to SAT2? There are 6 presets for each.

As the presets are tied to the key fob that was in use when they were set, is there a way to imprint the settings from one key fob onto another?

I'd like to get things setup once and transfer all the setting to the 2nd fob rather than have to do everything twice.

No Idea

My car hasn't done this since so now I am too confused and want it to happen again so I can go straight to the dealer for a check up!

From R56 experiences...

1. Yes, about 8 or 9 times out of ten when this issue is posted, and when I personally experience something like it, it has to do w/ the other key.

2. Yes, get the other key set with your preferred settings. I have never found any info about being able to copy over the functions from the first key to the second key, so I just have done it serially. Then if I mix up keys, doesn't really matter--that is, if it acts up, it doesn't seem to have complete amnesia, but rather has somehow associated itself to another key.

3. My car is very sensitive to the second key, if I just unlock it for example it seems to think the second key is "in charge." When the thing seems confounded, I have found sticking the key fob with the programming I want into the ignition slot (I have keyless entry and start) generally overcomes it. That is, it has never actually "lost" the programming I first entered for the key in question. I have also tried manually sticking the key portion itself in the door lock and locking and unlocking it as another alternative to get it to reset, which may have some effect; I mention these because I have a third key as yet unprogrammed by the dealer that seems to induce confusion w/ the other two if ever used, and these are the ways I have gotten it back to normalcy.

Who'd a thunk keys could make things so complicated? It almost makes we wish that keys were keys once again.
