No direct answer as I am not familiar with the R55 filter HOWEVER here is a pix of the filter box of the R60. Too many screws to remove just yet. If you can tell from this, your welcome!

It should be about the same engine as what's in the MCS Clubbie.

In theory.

it should work. Assuming the engineers haven't change tube lengths, fastener locations, etc. But what do i know...my countryman is getting snowed on in the port at Bremerhaven!

My dealer is claiming that my Countryman All4 needs a new engine air filter at only 43k miles. If I'm reading my service booklet correctly, it's not needed until the 5th oil change, so I'm a bit suspicious.

What I'm even more suspicious about is the price they quoted, $105. When the girl in their service department quoted me the price, I got the distinct feeling she was embarrassed to be asking that much. I looked at realoem.com, and it looks like the msrp on the filter is $19.24. Am I correct in assuming the air filter could not be easier to replace (I'm looking at the pic in post #2 above) and that a $75-$80 labor charge to replace the filter is just plain silly?

43K?! I always changed mine every 10K just because. Very simple to change, they must be quoting you labor. They cost $36 at Mini/BMW.

It is the same filter as the R56 2007-2013, same engine, same filter housing.

Sheesh! For ~$80, you can get an aFe Pro Dry S drop in filter replacement. Lifetime warranty, no oiling = no oil buildup on the MAF sensor. Works better than most of the aftermarket cold air intakes out there because it allows you to take advantage of the already in place snorkel intake.
