Sunroof Question

It's been sometime since I have looked at a Mini, I purchased an 03 S (great car, sold it in 05) but haven't thought much about them until seeing the new Countryman. I remember on my S that the sunroof was always visible except for a netted sunshade sort of thing. Is that the case with these new Countryman's, or can you actually shut out the light from the sunroof with an actual barrier like most other sunroofs?

Hopefully that makes sense?

Anyone have some time with your countryman outfitted with a sunroof? Have they become any better with the quality on these things. Mine was loud, plagued with rattles, and awful in the winter.

Same thing with the netted sunshade. The difference between the '03, which I also have and installed limo tint on mine, is that the glass is 30% darker for the Countryman.

yes, its still with the netting, but the glass is darker. I spent the last 3 days driving here in florida with the netting stowed, and the direct sun never seemed to bother me like my 08 cooper did....

Does it make the navi screen hard to see or are the any glare problems?

I have an 03 with NAV and limo tint on the sunroof. The only glare issues I ever have is sun coming through the driver and passenger windows.

I don't have Nav, only Mini Connected. And absolutely no glare issues, and the screen is very bright with high contrast....

we sat in a Countryman in Portland last week - my wife pointed out how different the sun shade was in comparison to my 02 MCS: the entire fabric is on rails, it's stretched tight and doesn't look like it will droop, the way the edges of mine have...

Am I correct that the front sunroof slides back, as well as pushes up, while the back sunroof only pushes up?

Yes, you are correct. Once the front piece starts to slide back, the rear piece closes.

Look in the Vendor section. There are a few vinyl dealers on here. You will have to call to check on sizing.
