Just ordered!

Hi everyone

I am brand new here and I just ordered my MC on Wednesday from East Bay Mini. I don't know my production week yet but I'm looking forward to finding out in the next couple of days. I'm told that East Bay runs pretty high volume and that their lead time is longer than most, but we'll see, I guess!

So I ordered:

MC Base, Pepper White w/PW roof/mirrors
Premium package
Cold Weather package
Automatic transmission (my brother made fun of me, but the traffic here is just too awful to bother with a 6-speed, seriously!)
iPod adapter

I'm planning on adding (and could use recommendations for):

Clear bra (could use a NorCal vendor for this)
Factory Sirius stereo (but having my buddy install it to save some $$, unless someone can convince me that this is an exceedingly bad idea. I have a plug-and-play in my current car but really want to retain the "factory" look of my MC)
Maybe a light tint
Any other suggestions?

Looking forward to participating here...I've already learned a lot in the past hour or so I've been browsing!

Congrats, now you can do the happy dance!!! You can ask your dealer what month they will allocate your order to. I ordered in Socal and I know they are backed up. So my production date is sometime in Sept with a nov/dec delivery date. I don't have my number either... and I am patiently inpatient. Sounds like you have everything planned. I can't wait to start adding things to my car too! Keep us updated. Keep searching. I learned much about clear bra's on this forum. Think I am going with the aftermarket one from the same place that is installing my tint. Good luck!!

Congratulations! Just ordered an automatic myself. As I was told by Batgirlwildcat, "Don't EVER be ashamed to drive an automatic MINI. Welcome!"

Good call on the CVT w/ all that traffic. Get a glovebox organizer (inexpensive) and you'll be totally hooked up!! I mean, you can change stuff later if you want, but you have a pretty good initial punch list...just work on that and enjoy motoring in your MINI. Then see what happens. I made a few tweaks to my Cooper 3.5 years ago and have not seen fit to change a thing since. Not that I haven't thought about it either. It's just that after some consideration, other mods just didn't seem proper for my particular MINI.

If you want to drop some bucks (MINI obsession is a cruel mistress) make sure you have all the detailing supplies you need. That's pretty important.

Congrats on your order and welcome to the group. Now the hard part begins... The waiting. There are a lot of threads on tracking your MINI. Do a search for that here. You can also check out some of the MINI clubs in the Nor Cal area...

Here is a thread about that:

Congrats and welcome!

I was thinking of aftermarket clear bras so I can shop around (for price and quality), but decided I'm too afraid my MINI will get a rock chip on the way to wherever I get it installed! Figured getting it before delivery was the way to go.

Not that I'm coddling my baby or anything...

Although I'd rather have a manual no matter how bad the traffic is, (easy for me to say since I live in Arkansas ), you did good getting what you want and ignoring the brother.

My only suggestion for PW is always to get the black top. IMO it looks much better with a black top.

Congradulations on your new MINI.

Welcome!

Congrats on the order and welcome!

Driving this car every day is too much fun! The chronic-MINI-smile-syndrome is true!

Best of luck......

Hi and welcome from another East Bay Mini customer. I ordered my MCS mid July... I got slot 15 in their October allocation. No number yet. The MA said the had 30 MCS slots for Sept allocation and will get the same for Oct so I'm safe. 'course you're getting the MC (non S right?) which might have a shorter wait time. I was very torn about getting the auto because of traffic up here too (680/24/242/4) It takes me 45mins to an hour to get to/from work which is only 15miles away. BUT.. I wanted the $$ for other options (including the S).

Maybe the 3 of us (you, gminiS,) will be picking up the same time.

My order: HB/W MCS, premium/sport/bonnet stripes (might take off so I can do the Hawaiian flower scoop), 6spd manual, white s-lites, HK sound, body color interior/shift ****, cloth seats (had to save $$ somewhere).

I wonder if it has to do with yours being an S and mine being just base, like an allotment that was full? Because they ordered mine same day (or at least, they told me they did - the woman that does the ordering was out helping a customer and rather than hanging around, she said she would just drop the paperwork with the production numbers, etc, into the mail to me), and I'm supposed to get it late October/early November.

I am checking into the MINI Select thing before I finance. I like the low payments it allows. But my current car was financed with Captial One and I really liked them, regardless of some horror stories that I heard.

And thanks for the warm welcome, everyone

Add rear fogs if it's not too late. Without 'em, you have an ugly blanking plate on the row of toggles on the dash, and not-quite-as-ugly blanking plates in the rear where they belong. Retrofitting is possible, but is expensive and an ugly job. Also, if you ever drive in the central valley up/down I-5 or US 99, you'll REALLY want to have them. The tule fog out there can be absolutely brutal and very dangerous. Huge multi-car pileups happen out there all the time when the fog rolls in heavily.
