And I noticed there are 7 of us on the Auto Banner. I hope we got our own room! Am I believe that by some MINI-telepathic way, the kids are planning motoring adventures!

Sick Day

OK Sick Day crew,

Here's the MINI motoring tool to help you out. Go to miniusa.com, click on "MINI Takes The States" (bottom left) and then "How To Get Out of Work" at the bottom. Like astrochex said, ya gotta start practicing or use this nifty online tool!

astrochex - That's cool there are 7 of us. I'll bet those wee little ones are scheming or maybe just making friends. They're probably as excited as us!

Ah, the painted arches. That might explain the extended wait. Anywho, the arches are the black/dark gray plastic trim around the wheel wells, plus the same colored trim that runs along the bottom edges of the sides and bumpers. Getting all that painted the body color really makes the car look different, and in my opinion, a whole lot better. Check out the cars in this thread - https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...painted+arches. How sweet do the red and yellow ones look?? I'm thinking about doing it at some point in the future, but it's a tad expensive. Unfortunately you can't just apply paint to this trim - it's textured, so they have to be sanded and prepped before paint can be applied.

And oh yeah, the sick day. I will definitely be taking a day off to go pick up my baby

Agh.. with much consideration and talking with my MA, my painted arches will wait until I get back to colorado. If something went bad with them, there would be no warantee since I am 1800 miles away from NY. As much as I was looking forward to it, I can wait a bit longer...

When I spoke with my MA, he said the car would only be at the dealer a day or two before it was ready for pick up.

I'm hoping for Mon or Tues (that's the 24th or 25th of July!!)

But I have no dealer installed options (I'm doing the dash myself).

The hardest part is pretending I don't know a thing about this.

I can't believe you guys are going to have your MINIs in JULY. Six weeks from order to pick up? That is GREAT. I'll be at 10 to 11 weeks. Ah well, you big city/East coast folks get some benes that us tumbleweeds don't!

I know, six weeks, right?? I can't believe it's only taken that long. The manager at the dealership I ordered from told me it could be as long as 10, so I'm flippin' out right now!!!

Cool. Thanks for the edjumacation. I do like the yellow one. I just may have opted for yellow had it been available.

But this I do not get. Painted arches? Looks like painted trim to me. Anyone know where the terms arches comes from in this instance?

So does anyone have any mods/accessories already?? I've got two magnetic grille badge holders (but only one badge so far ), the GoMINIGo no holes front license plate bracket, supplies to make a white hood scoop grille (see here - http://www.tech-esq.com/MINI/how_to_...oop_grille.htm), and just today I received my chrome John Cooper signature body badge. I'm drivin' my MINI straight home to put all this stuff on!!!

Creseida, I think Mon or Tues would be about right. Surely they will get there by tomorrow or this weekend. I just have the audio aux to be installed so Mon or Tues should be very realistic.

True, the term really only refers to the wheel arches, but it's become all encompassing of the trim. If you get the Aero kit, the side skirts and bottom trim on the bumpers are painted the body color, but the arches aren't - they're all that's left in the black/gray plastic. So with the Aero kit installed, all you need to complete the look are painted arches, hence the term.

Nitro

What's this? Never heard of it. Is it clippy or magnetic-y?

As far as accessories/mods go, I have a list of mostly chrome ones.

My faves so far (but not purchased) are the Door Handle Scratch Guards (chrome not clear) and the chrome Hood Scoop. What do you think about the diamond metal floor mats? I kind of like the look but think it could be a wee bit overboard.

Pictures, yes. I do have a digital camera. I guess I'll have to study up on how to make them viewable to all y'all.

Actually, it goes in the tow hook hole in the bottom of the front bumper. Check it out - http://www.gominigo.com/18545.html

VA requires a front plate, but I didn't want any holes drilled in my bumper. This is the perfect solution, and I think it looks good too.

Hmmm...good solution. I'd want to center it though. Guess that won't work with this. I'm getting a front plate...the chrome MINI badge...and my MA did say holes would be drilled. I figure I'm either going to have chrome plate, my personalized plate (even though it's not req. in AZ) or maybe something from a MINI event or club.

It's all about you-ification, yes???

You folks are making me even more stoked!

I'm starting to think a practice Roadtrip might be in order after I pick up the car.

NEAT's hours are M-F 8:00-4:30 PM. Being that Trinidad makes landfall after-hours, our MINIs will probably start being processed and quality-checked on Monday, no?

I wasn't aware that you had a choice as far as the front license plate goes.
Will my MA ask me about that before I pick my Mini? Also how do get the PW banner smaller. Sorry I can be technology challenged at times.

Hi Neverfifty,

If your state doesn't require a front plate, you have lots of options. Check out your dealers site or some of the other MINI merchadisers.

Here's a reduction on the PW27 badge. Let me know if you'd like it smaller.
