Maybe Tuesday if I can get everything lined up by then...still shopping for the best interest rate because my credit sucks....my own fault, but it still hurts. I'm approved by BMW financing so I'm getting the car no matter what, but it doesn't hurt to shop around a little.

You should ask your MA if he can send you a picture of Basil like Turcicus' MA did.

So for names, I was thinking of one from Roman or Greek mythology. My last semester before I graduated I took an Art History class--and during that course I developed a fascination with all the unique names and their meanings.

Brutus means "heavy," so that definitely doesn't fit with a MINI. Maybe Maximus (greatest). I'm looking into female names too.

Btw, I came across Chimera:

In Greek mythology, a fire-breathing animal with a lion's head and foreparts, a goat's middle, a dragon's rear, and a tail in the form of a snake; hence any apparent hybrid of two or more creatures. The chimera was killed by the hero Bellerophon on the winged horse Pegasus.
Is that you?

That's me My name actually came from an old Star Wars novel, it was the name of a Star Destroyer. Also, TVR in the UK have an awesome car called the Chimaera.

I don't want any pictures...adds to the surprise on pick-up day Even I don't get the full covered car treatment at the dealer (I've heard some do, some don't) I'd still rather wait to actually see him in person.

I like Maximus but me thinks it has been used a lot with MINIs. There's a NAM screen name MaximusMINI or similar.

How about Apollo? The ultimate in this genre, IMHO, is Zeus. But this is a very personal choice.

EDIT: Here's a link to "Rare Names of Mythology" - http://www.nameandfame.org/greek.html

Way to go! Too bad we aren't all getting our MINI'S at the same time and at the same dealership. No on second thought I don't think they could handle us. Don't forget, pictures please. Congrats again.

Yes mine was unloaded yesterday too. Seems like it will be here long before we thought. My husband says we have to wait till the 19th of August to pick it up. Well we will see. I still have the knowledge of being married for 32 years. There is alot of ways to get around that!! Hee Hee. This has been so neat sharing this experience with all of you. Hope we can keep it going with all of our miles of Motoring adventures.

I hear ya on that one. I actually feel the same way too. I want to be totally filled with shock and excitement when I pick mine up. Maybe at that moment I'll decide on the gender and name.

Man, my MA blows. I have never received an 'out of the blue' email or phone call pertaining to anything on my order. The only times I hear from him is when he replies to questions/comments I ask/send him.

I'll call him in a few.

So, Wednesday is still set as your pickup day?
Christian, your MA probably isn't that different than most. I'm not sure I've received a totally unsolicited communication from mine, or at least not many. Most are the result of a message I left for him, which there were many, not that he wouldn't have called me on his own but I haven't really waited around for him to do it. I think the MAs that are really pro-active communicators are the extraordinary ones.

YOWZA! Now that's a list!

For a boy, I like Seth. For a girl, I LOVE Lucia! Lucius is OK just a little difficult to say.

My fave of your list (gender aside) is Lucia!

Thanks for your suggestions! For Lucia, I guess it depends on the pronunciation and where it's emphasized:

lew-sha (I was leaning towards)
lew-see-ya
lew-seeya

Still deciding from my list... I may not have a name at pickup, but I'm sure it'll come to me when I drive it home (and may not even be from the Roman/Greek list).

Ohhh...I'm not even anywhere near those. I'm in the Italian mode: lew-CHEE-ya.

Yep the site is pretty quiet for some reason.

Yes, I lived in Italy for 4 years. It is definitely lew-CHEE-ya. We've called the voice of our other navigation system LUCY for years so Lucia might not be far off.

Well..... My car is at the dealership. Arrived sometime today. I went and saw it and took baby pics....and sat in it. Played with the buttons. Ooh'd and ahh'd over the English Panther seats. It is awesome! It will definitely be ready Monday, since I have no dealer add-ons. I've already set it up with my MA to collect the car on Tuesday afternoon. It just came off the truck and had not even been prepped when I took the pics. Other pics in my gallery.

creseida, it is awesome. I keep looking in the pictures for a glimpse of mine. Did you happen to see it, Hyper Blue, white, etc, etc? Oh well, I'll get to see it Monday, just a couple (1 1/2) days to go. At least I know where it's at.

Jeff said they got in over 30 new cars today. I did see two or three hyper blues with white roofs, plus 6 or 7 space blues, several greys/silvers...although once I found mine, I kind of stopped looking at the others.

Oh, if anyone is interested, they still have a purple haze convertible at Sterling Mini in VA. I know that colour has been discontinued.

Back from my trip...looks like I've got a lot of posts to catch up on!

I'm SOOO jealous of all of you who are already getting your Minis (or at least pics of them). Mine doesn't even reach port until Thursday! Seems it has taken its sweet time at every leg of the journey. Here's hoping it flies through the VDC and across the eastern US!
