Hey, I've been trying to keep the thread going!

I just hit 10K a few days ago, not bad considering the lack of time I've had to drive her. I'm just about at the point to where I'm confident enough to put my mods back on her. I did put my strut mount brace back on before I went on a trip last weekend. I didn't want any mushrooming. I also finally hardwired my Valentine One radar detector for the trip (mama didn't raise no dummy)! It has since saved my bum a few times this past week. Boy, did I miss that thing. I can't believe I've gotten away with so much for so long without it! :impatient I'm about to put on my ProMINI CAI, my Remus exhaust, my rear sway bar, some Nology hot wires, TSW springs and probably the TSW engine dampner. I'm going to try to take my two-spoke steering wheel down to the place that did my seats this week sometime to get it recovered. But, they want $300 to recover it. I'm going to see if I can sweet talk them down from that.

Today, the family is going down to the Houston Auto Show were they supposedly have 3 '07 MINIs on display. Will take pictures, I assure you.

Well it looks like it's just you and me Kris, haha! I like the pics of the 07! What was your opinion on it, since you've seen it in person? My best friend is going to order one in 08 and he and I have been doing some research on them. The more I look them up and find out about them, the more I like them. I think if they take care of a couple of little fitment issues with the bonnet that it will be a very nice car. I still want to drive one to make my decision though.

Hey Kris! Hey Drew! Thanks for keepin PW27SG alive!

I'm in the midst of selling a house...getting one ready anyway. Arrrgggh! What a lot of work.

The pics of the '07 are sweet. Thanks for the virtual tour. I'm beginning to like it more and more. Can't wait to see one IRL.

Drew, you are a motoring maniac. I'm at 10K at 5 months! Just wee compared to you.

Glad that Mary is going to be famous, Kris! Drew is right, you two deserve some glory after all that grief!

Let's see...my new MINI obsession ...DEVOTION... ...is die cast collectibles! What a fun hobby! Now I have Jake plus about 12 other MINIs!

Chad/Turcicus is quite the collector and has been mentoring me a bit. So, that's it for now.

Oh, acutally did I say how much I LOVE my Larini Sport Club exhaust??? MY fave mod to date!

Oooh, a new mod? Is that the single or dual muffler system? I'm looking forward to my single muffler system, really hoping to have it by next week at some point.

Clayton, I hate to bring this up incase the news is foul, but have you had any luck sorting the classic Mini purchase yet? I was thinking about that recently and hoping that you have had some luck. Just wondered...

Hey Drew,

I believe it's considered dual. But you can see more of famous Jake (and his new pipes) here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=89489

Not to worry about asking about the eBay scam. Unfortunately, there is no news. I was advised to file a complaint at www.ic3.gov (the Internet Crime Complaint Center). It's a coalition between the FBI and the White Collar Crime Center.

I filed my complaint in early January. At that time that fricken jerk that scammed me was still replying to my emails. I was playing dumb to see if he/she was still around. I just wish things could happen quicker. They still had an email address and a fax number at that time.

Oh well...I've chalked it up to a tough lesson learned. Someday I'll get the perfect classic Mini and never look back!

Clayton

My impression is that it's ok. There are some things that I like (the seats are really comfy!) and some I don't. I think you'd really like the Lightning Blue, Drew. It's pretty similar to the Hyper Blue, only more sparkley. They yellow...not a big fan. I thought the checkered interior was really cool. I couldn't help thinking of how awesome Mosquito would have looked with it.

The bonnet release sucks majorly. It was damn near impossible to get it open. The speedo isn't as bad as everyone made it out to be. Still wish I could have seen the nav version. The a/c dials ARE as bad as they look in the pictures.

I think that the new New MINI will be welcomed into any MINI family, but it's too bad they won't be included in those cool night pictures where everyone lifts their bonnet and shines their headlights in the sky.

I'm here too! Not much to report though! Pi Rho is at about 10,600 miles now. I have plans to put on an engine damper and get some window tinting done soon. I am hoping the bf will take my "suggestion" for my bday present (hey, he asked!) and get me that TomTom I wanted.

I think the best story so far is that I convinced my bf to get a MINI and he is loving every minute of it (his Audi S4 barely gets driven now!).

I just came in from giving Mary some good ol' luvin....not THAT kind of lovin' sickos! After all the crapy, icy weather we've had (in Houston! WTF?), she was just covered in all sorts of yucky stuff. Sand, tar, some invisible sticky stuff... pretty gross. So Saturday I claybarred her and then used some paint cleaner on her. Yesterday is was cold and really windy, so I didn't even try to finish putting the Zaino on her. I had today off due to a pipe break at work so I managed to put one layer of Zaino on her and some detail spray. She's sooooo shiney! She really needs more coats, but it's going to start raining again soon and that will (unfortunately) continue thru Friday. At least now she has some protection from the elements.

Wow, PW27SG lives! I passed 10,000 last week but also just moved to a new house and my commute dropped from 80 miles per day to 20 so the next 10,000 should go a lot slower. Haven't had my first service yet, still got 2700 to go according to the computer. I can't wait to get through this shitty Vermont winter so I can spring for some Zaino products and finally get to wash my car in my OWN driveway for the first time ever

FYI, at 10k miles you are able to get your service done. Although you have a countdown, they will change the oil and I'm pretty sure do the whole service every 10k miles, even if you are still showing miles on the countdown. This is straight from a BMW/MINI Tech's lips.

I forgot to mention that Mary got her 10K check-up/oil change last week. My dealership asks that you be within 500 miles of 0 on your car's countdown. Also, the counter goes as this: 10K initially, 15K after that. Every other change it will go to "inspection" instead of "oil change."

10,000 Service

Hmmm...sounds like Mary and Jake are about the same on mileage.

My 'countdown' says about another 800 miles. But the odo says almost 11,000. Should I take him in for service?

Call your SA and see what they say. I'm sure some service stuff differs from dealership to dealership.

Yeah, my "countdown" says I have about 1,300 miles until an oil change. I did get it voluntarily done when I got the tranny replaced, but I had to shell out $80 then! Most of the cost was labor too!

Wait... you had to get your transmission replaced too? Hmmm... I didn't realize that, or completely missed it somehow. I've been wondering recently if my tranny isn't a little too rough... seems like sometimes going into gears it is difficult and it feels wrong like I'm not using the clutch or something... Probably have them check it out again next time it's in...

Hey everyone, I'm still here too!

I'm really jealous of those of you who have heaped on the mods. The only mods I've been able to accomplish are appearance-wise and relatively inexpensive. I've got a long list of stuff I want to do, but I'm afraid I'll never be able to justify some of them to the wife ("Why do you want to make it faster??" or "You just bought it!") . It's entirely possible to slip some of them in under her nose, but do I really want to do that??

Anyway, Nitro is at about 6500 miles now and doing very well. The only issue I'm having is there's an extremely slow leak in my rear passenger-side tire. And when I say extremely slow, I mean the pressure monitor only goes off about every 2-3 weeks - but it's always right. I'm taking him in Friday afternoon for a tire repair, so we'll see what they say.

.............shhhhhhhhhh!............... It's entirely possible that you forget to mention necessary improvements that you have to make to keep the MINI up to spec. It would be a shame to let it's value slip.

I wish CooperSpeed was still up and running. I'd link you to an awesome thread someone started about sneaking stuff under your spouse's nose. It was called something like, "Upgrades on the down-low."

What??? I'm having the EXACT issue. However, I now have non-runflats.

Hmm, interesting. I'm hoping it's just something stuck in the tire that made a "wee tiny" () hole, but I did read in the Wheels & Tires section that it can sometimes be the beading around the edge of the wheel. Although if it's that, why did it take so long to manifest? We'll find out tomorrow...

How's the ride on those non-runflats? Do you notice a difference between the two?

It's rarely the bead, because as you said, that would show up sooner. You probably just picked up a nail or something... if you get a chance, take a hose and soak the tire and look for some tiny bubbles... since it's such a slow leak you may not find them. Hopefully it's toward the center of your tire, because that IS fixable, even on a runflat. If its near the shoulders though, expect to buy a new tire, as you can't fix that. Good luck, hopefully it's nothing severe!

I'm wondering if (hoping that) the stem valve is loose.

Well, as it turned out, in one spot the seal between the edge of the tire and the wheel wasn't as tight as it should have been. They added a bit of sealant and said I was good to go. So I'll be keeping an eye on it for the next few weeks to be sure it doesn't pop up again.

Glad it wasn't something major that required a new tire!
