Hello PW27'ers!

I just got Pi Rho's first engine mod delivered yesterday and now just need time and space to get it installed! It is Shoe's engine damper in RED! I definitely want to do the red/black engine mod route, seeing as I feel it is living true to his real color. I know it might be too much red in the end, but they will be accents, so, definitely not over the top in the end.

Once it is installed, I'll snap a few pics!

I have a feeling you'll really enjoy that. I'm going to have one installed when I get a pulley done. From what I've heard from others it makes a huge difference in the driveability of the car, as well as how it pulls as soon as you step into the throttle. Nice choice!

So, now that the R56 is officially released, did any of you go to any launch parties? Get to drive the new S yet??

I was able to attend two different dealerships' MINI launch parties and got to take a ride and a drive in the Cooper and Cooper S. There is some nice refinement and smoothness with the new MINI, but I feel it doesn't impress me performance wise as my own R53. I'm glad I didn't wait for the new MINI at all. I have a tried and true model. Like a MINI friend said, "You knew they had gotten it right when they decided to change it".

Yup, I got to go to one on Sunday and drove one for a little while. I wrote a full review in my blog. Hope all are doing well!

New mod added yesterday: the TSW engine dampner kit!

Who knew such a little thing could make a big difference? My shifting is mucho faster! That's one thing that's always bugged me on Mary is that I can't shift as fast or as smooth as I could in Mosquito. Now, it's exactly how it should be!

Celebrated my birthday yesterday and wanted to share the two MINI presents I got!

The bf gave me the OEM iPod interface! Now all I have to do is plug it in and we're all set. It seems pretty straight forward, so I'm not worried.

My parents offered to pay for my window tinting that I've been wanting to get done. So, once I get chance to schedule an appointment to get it done, Pi Rho will have sunglasses! :D

visual upgrades on the cheap!

I've been wanting red stitching on my shifter/e-brake boots for a while. I had ordered some from Redline but the color of the boot was no where near what was OEM. So, yesterday while I was rumaging thru some of my mom's sewing room, I came across some red cross-stitching thread (the thick stuff). So, I swiped that and a needle, went home and removed my boots and the lining thread, careful not to harm the boots or the holes the thread came out of. I sat on my bed last night and sewed in the red thread into the pre-existing holes by hand. Didn't take long and the results are awesome....and free!!!

Nice stitching GBM!

I just had my 10k service done (at 12k miles...) Pi Rho sounds so much better now. You could tell the oil was getting old... even with the oil change at 5k! I hope everyone is enjoying the last few days of winter before Spring arrives!

Well, I finally got Pi Rho's windows tinted! Once it cures and looks good (and I get my car washed!) I'll post up a pic of him. So far, I've been told it looks really hot on him!

Glad to see PW27 is alive and well.

Now at 12K miles, Kramer has been to Death Valley and Vegas and has her first windshield owie, a small star down by the driver side wiper. Its out of the field of vision thankfully.

I'll be taking her in again soon for the first oil service.

Just got back from AMVIV last night where I finally got to meet Red Scooter and Jake! I can't tell you how excited I was to come out to the parking garage Friday morning to find a note stuck in Mary's door from Clayton! Truth be told, I was like, "Crap, a note....who'd I **** off?" Finally found each other in the parking garage Sunday right before we both left and then right afterwards at In n' Out.

Nice to finally put a face to the car/screen name!

Ditto Kris! I was admiring this great looking PW/B and then saw the upholstery. "That's Mary!" I said. Kind of funny to recognize someone's MINI or screen name first! Was able to meet some other MINI icons as well...Randy Webb...Emily/StoopidGirl... In fact, she sent out a 'spy camera' and caught me and Jake at the Phil Wicks Driving Academy!

After meeting Kris, I realized that I've been away from PW27SG for too long. Jake got some Vegas bling (wee tiny, of course)...will have to post a pic or two later.

Clayton

PS Now you all can see what I look like...IN A HELMET!!!!

Lookin' good! Now where's the one of you with helmet hair?

Here's me with a friend on the Valley of Fire run. The hair dryer broke in my poor-excuse for a hotel room, so it's all stuffed up under my hat (oddly enough, this is how I looked when I met Red Scooter too....now you know!):

Engine dampers?

Hey all!!!

How doooooo???

Seems a bit quiet 'round here. Was reading about engine dampers (LordOfTheFlies is promoting his on the home page) and remembered someone here got one. Thought it was Sheeb/Pi Rho but 'tis Kris/Mary!

Anyone else?

Am curious how this mod is on a auto tranny. I am using the shifter/Agi-paddles A LOT and am enjoying revving/shifting when I am in zippier mode. Got my mileage up to 27 MPG before the A/C had to go on. :impatient Crikey...it's getting hot here.

Anyway, nice to stop and say 'hello'. See some folks I haven't for a while...a special 'hey' to astrochex and Gromit801.

Having been in contact with Turcicus as I am now a MINI diecast collector! Wahh-hooo! More MINI fun!

Bye-bye now...

Good to hear from you Clayton!

I did buy the engine damper from Shoe, but have yet to install it... I also have a manual, so I wouln't be able to offer any help in that department either.

I'm sure it would help with the initial acceleration from a stop. I don't know how your tranny works with the CVT in sport mode, but does it have any acceleration lag from a stop to a start? I would think if it did, it would help there as the engine damper helps there with the stick shift.

I am planning on Pi Rho getting modded up before MINIs on Top (big MINI event here in New England) which happens in June... so I'll post that when I get those on!

CVT, eh? Will ask around. I bet someone in one of the Texas clubs has one installed.

Well, I've been in a loaner for about two weeks now...ever since I got back from AMVIV. They've taken off my front bumper so many times installing transmissions that the paint's cracked. So, I'm getting a new front bumper. I'm also getting a new shift linkage....the one thing on the trannies they haven't replaced. Guess it helps having someone from your dealership drive your car on a 2800 mile trip to verify your first gear still sucks. I was in an 06 S, but have been in an 07 S since Monday. Been kinda hard getting used to it. I still hate the turn signals, but it's not bad.

Hey guys and gals! Sorry I haven't checked in for a while, I've got some updates though. I'm the new President of the Tar Heel MINI Motoring Club!!!!! I've been doing a ton of stuff with this group since I got BLISS and the founder/original president nominated me to take over for him at their first elections, which were yesterday.

Aside from that, BLISS is pretty much unchanged. My most recent mod is the wheels/tires. I'm going to be installing the suspension and exhaust tomorrow/tuesday though and I'll be sure to post up some pics soon after.

Is anyone here going to the Dragon in 2 weeks? I'll be there, and I would LOVE to meet some of you guys if possible. If anyone needs a place to stay, there is still one room available at the B&B I'm staying in. The room will probably go soon, but let me know if you want it, as it's my girlfriends parents place, so I can reserve the room if needed.

I hope everyone is doing well, and hope to see some soon!

Drew

Congrats on the recent election as President, Drew! Make sure to make good executive decisions!

I wish I was able to head to the Dragon. But I know a bunch of other MINIs from my neck of the woods (New England) that will be going down there. I think they have rooms though. Look out for NH plate "SCRAT" and a few other NE plates... I'm sure they are all known up here.

I went on a motoring run to the Swedish furniture store, IKEA, with a bunch of MINIs today. It was beautiful sunny weather. The first break of the rain in about 2 weeks! I can't wait for summer.

SUCKER!!! No, really, congrats! We're about to hold officer elections in our club so I'll finally have a break after 2 yrs of being secretary. There was a movement to make me prez, but the insurgants were quickly elliminated (I know people in low places).

My hubby is going to the dragon with a few Texas peeps. If you see a very black MINI with matte black stripes and a plate that reads BAD BTY, that's him. Feel free to freak him out by saying, "Hey Simon!" He'll be hanging with PassatDotd over in the beer-related activities area.

Well, this thread has been dead for some time now, but I'm happy to be the one to bring it back up and say hello to everyone.

I've added the newest picture of BLISS. He's rocking an H-Sport suspension now and some 17x7.5" Kosei K1-R wheels. Next 3 mods in no particular order are:
35% Tint
Carpeted Rear Seat Delete Kit
17% Supercharger Pulley

Oh, and maybe one of these days I'll get around to installing my exhaust too! Sheesh!

I hope everyone is doing great and still loving their MINI's!

Drew
