WOW...I just picked up my MINI

And I haven't stopped smiling since. Yesterday I took delivery of my 06 MC CVT, AB/B, premium package with nav system. The 8 week wait was well worth it. I'm impressed with how much fun the CVT is to drive and was wondering if any of the other CVT owners out there can offer some CVT driving techniques. Well...I'm off to put some more miles on the MINI and keep that smile on my face.

Just got our MC with CVT too. I was worried about power and we are not dissapointed. Really weird to have the RPM's stay the same through the powerband.

There is one thing I noticed so far (100 miles). There is a slight lag when you press on the gas or stutter. I was wondering if this is normal or something wrong? Are you noticing this too?

my previous mini was a cvt cooper - great car! you'll discover that the cooper is a completely different beast and often under appreciated in terms of its amazing handling charachteristics. in some ways, i prefer the handling of my old cooper to my current s - however - your question is about the cvt. just wait until you get past the break-in and then do yourselves a favor and drive it in sd ONLY. that's when the car really comes to life. also, consider the jcw sound kit. adds 3 hp, but the grunt will be there as well - you'll love it!

best of luck.

ejsanchez,
Congrats on the new MINI! There are definitely a lot of threads here about how to get the most out of the CVT; try doing a search. I can't point you to any because I'm a 5sp owner, so I don't follow those threads. Maybe somebody else can link to a good one.

DOMC - I have noticed the crawl at low speeds. I read that this is normal and as mentioned by new york city mini.

Hello,

I am local to you and have debated over the ATC or 6 speed for my MCS. I quite liked the auto but knew i'd miss the fun of shifting. I dont mind traffic since i hardly drive long distances in NYC. I just feel that I enjoy the car that much more with the clutch and shift work... but that's just me.

I really liked the auto and would consider it for a second mini, if i were to be so bold to say.
