Question to Checkers... have you noticed your car "tramlining"? That is the tires following the grooves cut into the road? My last MCS did not do this and I found it a bit disconcerting on the drive home..
Bluegarvis, no I have not felt that driving from Sacramento to SF but I try to be more concious the next time a drive it.

I just filled up for the first time.

Had about 1/8 left. (the mini beeped me.) and had 350 miles on the odometer.

How many more miles do you think I would have gotten (city) with the last 1/8 of the tank?

Did I mention this is one FUN vehicle?

thought I should do so again!!!!!!

That's usually when I've been filling up myself. I've been a little disappointed at the MPG though. I've been averaging a little under 28 MPG and I've put in 5 tank fulls so far......most of which is highway driving.

Has anyone else had any better luck? It said 36 MPG, but I thought I would get a least 30 MPG.

Thanks madmike007. I'm really enjoying every second when I'm motoring. Hopefully, the parts that I ordered come in before the weekend so I can do some self-install this weekend (OEM alarm with stalk and Dice IPOD adapter). Also, ordered a car cover and checkered floormats

Thanks Madmike007 and myminimini...

Just motoring along... I installed the body colored shift **** today and painfully pinched my pathetically puffy finger (quick... p word for finger???)...

I've been averaging about 24.5 MPG in my MCS but most of my driving is in the city. I've been having to fill up at about 300 miles. I have a trip to Indiana planned in a couple weeks and I'm reserving my mild disappointment until I see what I get on the highway. However, I'll be traveling with my wife and both my kids so I might end up with about the same results given the additional weight.

On the other hand, anything is better than the boring ride and the 16 MPG that my F-150 gets.

Just in case anyone else is still waiting to pick up the MINI,

You've seen pictures of it....

It sat in the dealer's lot over my long weekend out of town....

The purchase agreement didn't get done in time for my Tuesday appointment...

My MA went out of town for two more days....

I'm picking MINI up Tomorrow at 10 am!!!

We went looking for it on the lot last Sunday afternoon, but MINI chose that day to move cars from the old dealership location to a spanking NEW building, and my MINI was put indoors (safe from my view?).

This new building has showroom capacity for 400 CARS! It would have been cool to get some pics of mine in that space, but now I'll bet it will be sitting out front and I won't get the cool "showroom glam shots" I've seen from others.

Oh well, this time tomorrow I shall be MOTORING home and taking my first long way home.... Post again after 24 hrs.

Sir M.

PS- Am I the last in the S.G. to pick up? I'm going to name the MINI......" ?"

Yeah I was like a kid!

I'll admit I was kinda giddy this morning, but I tried to play cool... you know it IS a BMW, right?

Something tells me that when you've memorized your VIN#, you are following a bit too close!
Anyway, just back in from a short joy ride.
I didn't need the caffiene from a large mocha- kept the radio off and listened to the MCS rummmmmmble.

I am going to love driving this car!
BTW, I got to be one of the first cars LAUNCHED out of the 2nd floor "delivery bay" of my dealer's new store! It was quite a cool send-off.

Here's a pic or two from my gallery:

and:

Thanks to all the SG people, you made waiting fun!
I'll be posting more from this thread about the experience of the next few days, etc.

Now I must go out and look at The Liberator again!

Sir M.

My purchase, delivery, and entertainment (driving it)

My Story:

Got on list at dealer Jan 22, 2006. Ordered car Apr 23, 2006. Picked it up Jul 28, 2006. It was a very long 3 months! I envy you east-coasters with a much shorter delivery time. Was on vacation when it arrived -- darn!

I get about 21 MPG in town with "S" and automatic -- about 29 MPG highway.

Dragged the airdam on a driveway. Looked at the front of the car and the bumper and bonnet were badly misaligned. I thought "cripes!" What cheap body parts! Turns out I had opened the hood the day before and only got it latched on one side. I closed it up properly and it looks fine.

Major kudos to Long Beach Mini in Southern California. Very nice, helpful associates, no pressure, and my best deal in SoCal.

The more I drive it, the more I like it!

Will post a pic.

Successfully completed my first mod. Install a Dice ipod adaptor, wires are virtually invisible. I'm pretty happy with it so far. Song, album, artist displays in the stock stereo, control works from steering wheel. Too bad my oem alarm didn't come in this week, I would have had time to install that too, oh well, more time for motoring. Cheers.

Broke 1000 miles today. The family took a little road trip to see the Ohio Caverns and Mac-O-Chee and Mac-A-Cheek, the two Piatt castles near West Liberty, Ohio. It was a nice little day trip for getting past the break-in period. Click for larger images.

Posted first pic to my gallery. Just washed it because of a road trip to Big Bear CA, where the fog and drizzle dirtied my great looking new car.

I even had to put gas in it the other day. I've got 400 miles on it now. I'm feeling much more accustomed to it now. Took a few hundred miles before the car and I are one.

Everyone I show, loves the car. Got a thumbs up from another MINI driver in the parking lot on a icecream run tonight.

Mevans7,

Very nice looking, and so clean! I know what you mean about feeling like you're connected to the car. I had very sweaty palms until I got about 75 miles in.... but it still feels like the NEWEST car I've ever driven! I have had lots of new cars, even a bright red new truck, but none of them gave me such a thrill (a little scared I'll admit) driving off the dealer's lot!

Checker,

Actually, the dice pic was a gag... although lookin at it now, maybe I will....

Enjoy the ipod... you must have done a good job to keep wires from showing!

Schreyerplace,

Very nice pics, congrats on getting through the break-in... how did you manage to keep the revs down? I'm having trouble.

Also, didn't know that castles had MINI's back then.
