OK... after reading the forums... i pulled the trigger tonight

I went to Prestige Mini in Mahwah NJ and placed an order on a 2006 MCS.
Dark Silver, Same colored roof and mirrors
Black leatherette sport seats (went back and forth on the space gray seats)
Premium Package
Sport Package
Winter Package
Rear Fog
Navigation
Harmon Kardon Sound System
Chrome Line accents
"Seven" Piano Black interior surface.

At the last minute, I removed the space Gray interior cloth in favor of Leatherette, the Autotransmission, Alarm, Ipod Adapter, and Mini driving lights.

I was surprised and delighted with the autotransmission. This was mainly considered since this car would spend most of its time in city traffic.

Several months was spent researching several forums and checking out numerous used cars. Most were in OK condition but I took the initiative to test drive a 2005/2006 and immediately felt a difference in steering, shift ratio and the overall feel of the car as compared to the dozen other used models I test drove these past few months. The decision was quite clear thereafter...

Fingers crossed. its not every day one spends nearly $30,000. I have to give kudos to the sales manager and staff there who was patiently in showing me dozens of cars and stayed a little after closing with me to complete my order. Never rushed or felt pressured one bit. I am glad I had the opportunity to experience what many MINI owners have already.

I know i am going to love this car... I hope my wife will to... its my anniversary gift to her.

Nice work. Your wife is very lucky!

You might want to get the anthracite headliner to complement the piano black dash. You may also want to consider 16 inch wheels instead of 17's if you're driving around NYC/NJ. You can buy all the options in the Sport Pack individually, keep the 16's and save about $200 or so.

I should go test-drive the auto trans someday and see how it is.

I wonder how the leatherette seats are to sit on in the summer with shorts. Anyone here have them?

Congrats on the purchase! Sounds like an awesome car.

Wouldn't reccomend the short shorts on the hottest of days (not that I've acctually tried that, if one of the ladies could comment), but I was fine with knee-length Dockers just had to be sure to keep my hand off of the rubber seal for the window as that gets HOT in all MINIs.

I would second the anthratic headliner. I don't have it....but wish I did. Go for it, it's much better!

It didn't come with the sport pkg before, are you sure about that?

The anthracite headliner is dark grey/black vs the standard very light dove grey.

Here is a picture of my NON-Anthratice headliner vs. an anthratice headliner.
Go with the anthratice headliner, it's a better color and you get the grab bars.

Mine:

Thanks to Dave for being an inspiration... My cockpit is exactly like yours to ever detail. space gray cloth seats, piano black seven interior, chromeline interior, antracite headliner. very classy combo indeed.

Thanks to polizei for the photos to make my anthracite headliner decision easier.

June 11th is the estimated build completion date... then comes 4-6 weeks of delivery into NJ. I know its shorter distance than my west coast counter parts but it doesnt make the feel of the wait any easier
