Possible newbie need help/advice...

Hello all. I'm a long time MCS fan but now only considering of actually getting one. I'm thinking of getting a used 2004 Cooper S from a dealership (non-BMW). The salesfolks at this dealer don't know the Minis too well. I would like to know what this particular MCS has in options since they don't. I have the VIN# and was wondering if Mini or anyother websites offer a service where I can plug in the VIN# and find out what options came with this particular car.

BTW - It's a 2004 MCS, BRG w/black top/bonnet stripes, manual tranny, black interior, and ummmmmm that's all I have. It has 18,500 miles and the asking price is $21k. Is this a good deal?

Thanks in advance.

Heck yeah that's a great deal. We bought Baby Blue used with 19K and paid 23K. I don't know about a place for the vin# stuff. I can't really speak much on the packages that it comes with, but I am pleased with my used one. And it is just pretty basic. Not too bad for a first, cause that means...there will be a second, and a third, and so on!

Just contact MINI

I just bought a '05 MCc HO/B from the dealer i work at, bought at an auto auction, and was also wondering the same thing. i ended up just emailing the local dealer, MINI of Hawaii, for a service record and they also sent me the car info with all the options and packages installed. I'd give that a try first, pretty easy.

Hey there,

Call your local MINI dealer and talk to the service dept. , give them your VIN# and they should be able to tell you alot about the car - warranty remaining, where it has been serviced, etc...

As far as using the VIN to trace options ???? I have no idea

If you look at the switch panel ( low on the console) You should see one labeled "DSC" - that is Dynamic Stability Control - it it is there - then you have it.
If you have a black(?) box behind your rear view mirror on the windshield then that should be the automatic windshield wipers.
If the A/C controls have a temp. display that you can adjust - then you have automatic climate control.

Those are the ones that most come to mind - I am sure there will be more posts with lots more info.

I bought my 04 MCS from a Honda dealer - He did not know much about the car - but I paid 19K for mine with 29K miles.

Good luck

E mail MINI USA...
They will reply and ask for vin # etc.
When you furnish that info, they will give you some information on warranty, packages ordered with vehicle...
Heck when I signed into the MINI USA owners lounge, I even had a service history on my vehicle....
Pretty awesome..
I bought my MCS used too and love it..

I bought mine new but miniusa.com is probably your best bet on getting factory options with a VIN #.

Thanks.

Thank you all. After further checking out the MCS, I decided to pass up on it due to the condition it was in. My search continues...

Any particular color you are stuck on for a used MINI? Let me know & I may be able to locate one for you.

cushin14 - My color of preference is BRG with a black roof. I'm located here in San Jose, CA but willing to travel as far as SoCal for the right car. Thanks.
