Any word on when 2006 production begins?

I've read "on the internet" that MINI won't start '06 production until October or November? Is that true?

My MINI probably won't be built until September (still waiting in line to order) so I'm wondering if I should ask to be put in line for an '06 instead....

Is there any "new" news on official '06 production start date? Is there anything confirmed worth waiting for?

Thanks.....

Just curious, which dealer did you go to in SoCal? Is there really a line for ordering a Mini? I will probably be getting an MCS in a few months, but if there's a line then I'll have to consider placing my order earlier.

Salesman in NJ today told us they'll still accept orders on an 05 with a 5 week turnaround. Expects 06's would deliver in late Sep or Oct...expects price increase proportional to last years...about $500.

Hi Rich -- I ordered from South Bay Mini, not too far from you. The people there have been nice and no-nonsense so far. They told me 4-5 months to delivery when I placed my $1000 deposit a month ago. They wanted me to spec out the car right away and told me it would still be an '05. I was hoping it would be 4 months, but looks like it's going to be 5. People in the Southern California NAM forum have good things to say about South Bay MINI... so I'm going to stick with them since they sell for straight MSRP.

It IS hard to believe there's still a wait for a car that's been out for what, 3 years? The MCS hardtop still has the longest wait. Long Beach MINI (the other local dealer selling for MSRP) quoted me about the same wait.. 4-5 months.
This is the longest I have ever waited for a car. And I've ordered some pretty nice cars before (BMW and Porsche!)

That's amazing! I went to South Bay Mini this past Saturday to test drive the S and the rep said current orders won't be ready until December. Good guys there at South Bay, but I'm not sure if I could wait that long. I may have to check w/ Classic in Ohio. Julie wrote me today and said the lead time for an S is about 5 weeks to her dealership.

Btw, which Porsche did you have? As you can probably tell from my NAM alias, I have a 993. Take care.

I had a 2001 Boxster S
You must track your 993 with those mods! Sounds very nice. The 993 is the best-looking Porsche ever, IMO. I did some track events with my Boxster too. Great car, and I miss it on beautiful days, but I wanted a V8 so I got one of the last C5 Z06's for a great price last year. I've been very happy with the Vette even though some of my Porsche buddies make fun of me. The MCS will be my daily driver.

Sounds like a good plan to go out of state!
