We (she) had the most difficult time deciding between the convertible and hardtop but in the end obviously we went with the hardtop as she wasn't sure she would use the convertible unless the day was perfect and the blind spots the rest of the year would be a pain. I drive a Subaru WRX Sti but I can't wait to get my hands on this thing (of course if she lets me)!

 

I would be suspicious of the promised delivery by the end of May for an "S". To promise that, the car would almost have to be already built and waiting for a ship. But whenever you get it, it will be worth the wait. They are great cars and a ball to drive.

well technically it's her car and so she says I can't drive it but I will find a way. Oh and I wasn't aware that the S automatic wasn't CVT... either way it's automatic unfortunately, I would have loved to have the 6sp with LSD. Beggers can't be choosers. thanks for the welcome.

I have a question now! We ordered the car middle of last week but still no schedule for production. The owner's lounge says the car is "on order" or something like that. How long does it stay "in line" and should I expect the end of may beginning of june delivery date the MA quoted... although I common sense would tell me nooooooo way end of may if they havn't even scheduled it to be built.

 

Call 1.866.ASK.MINI, and follow the prompts (say "vehicle production status" then "[your production number]" then "yes" after the automated system repeats it) to check the status of your vehicle. It will give you more updated information than the Owner's Lounge.

 

I just got mine on Friday It took just about 4 weeks for mine to arrive. I've heard that I just beat the spring production so I got lucky with the time....it goes by fast though!!!

Well sure it goes by fast, you only waited 4 weeks. I have to wait twice that long.

 

Your dealer should immediately mail you the online order sheet.

On the right side of the sheet are production dates:
Mine are:

Req. Prod 2005/05/18
Sub. Prod 2005/05/18
Conf. Prod 2005/05/19
Quota 2005/5

Which means Requested, Submitted, and Confirmed.

BTW the 18 and 19 above mean week of the year, so 18 is this week.

I ordered April 25th.

 

I ordered March 26th, my MINI was born April 29th, and it SHOULD be leaving on the TRIANON today, getting into port in New York on the 11th.

Picked up my MCS Monday April 25, '05 ordered Feb. 14, '05 Valintine Day, yes, love at first sight. No, not Chili Red, but I seriously considered it. Pepper White. Wasn't to sure when I ordered it but now I'm very satisfied with the color choice. Then again any color is great. The wait was worth it. Happy motoring to all, and to all a great Mini.

 

just called and that source too is reporting "scheduled for production, with no set date at this time" or something like that.... I emailed my MA to see if he knows what is going on. I hope I am just being inpatient and the story is a lot different by the end of the week or next week. I wish I knew what was holding it up. thanks for all your help so far.

 

MAs should be used to anxious soon-to-be owners by now. Ask anything you want and ask often, I say!!

OK finally! Started rollin down the line on the 2nd of May and according to contact at 866 ask mini should be done on the 12th... and rollin it to my dealership 1st week in June. That would be 6 weeks from initial phone order to delivery, not bad.

I ended up getting bumped off the TRIANON, but now my MINI is on the MAERSK TEAL, keeping Boon's MINI, Nugget, company!

It'll arrive in NY on the 13th, go through the VDC, get on a truck and head to the dealership in Sterling!

 

Wow I ordered mine on the April 28th, Maybe I am tailgating you right now at down the Birth Canal. My dealer told me early to mid June. It is going to be the longest weeks of my life. Plus I sold my car yesterday and I am now car-less. Hopefully it will make it even better when I drive it home.
