I have had my Mini for a year and a half now, I got it with 64k-ish miles, I'm now at about 83k-ish, I've been learning the best preventative-care and maintenance practices I can. So far I've spent a pretty penny getting a catch can, an intake, a re-circulation valve spacer, up-rated BOV spring, and a turbo blanket. I've deleted the noisemaker and the intercooler muffler. Cosmetically, I got a stubby antenna and put in some puddle lights. Mainly, I've been restoring the faded black trim and taking good care of the paint and interior, now I must get a new cowl, windshield, and start replacing the rubber/plastic bits that are cracking or beyond rescuing. Headlights, fog lights, strut bar and an intercooler are next up, so I am open to people's suggestions for getting performance parts/upgrades.
Have a good one,
Morty This is the previous version of my catch can lines and the stock intake. She now has a CAI from CTS Turbo

Sweet! Just got my first mini and I want one of them turbo blankets!!!! I read a lot of people have had problems with the heat shields that some of the intake kits come with...
I have been intrigued by the turbo blanket for a while now.... nice to see a good word about them. The factory heat shield is ok, but the aftermarket ones like you mentioned do have a reputation for causing our plastic valve covers to melt.
did you notice any performance difference? I have read that they are supposed to make the turbo more thermally efficient, but I have no idea if it’s really anything noticeable or not
If I hadn't fallen in love with my Mellow Yellow, I would definitely have gone for that fantastic British Racing Green. Very nice! What's the bright green part in the engine compartment?
