Amazing Mini

Your story is just amazing. I hope I get the same longevity with my new Clubman S. Purchased new (after 3month wait) in June of this year. So far it has just a bit over 8k miles!! If I was close to Milwaukee I would seek you out and shake your hand. My wife's brother lives in Greenfield (53228). We were just there in March,'08. Maybe we can look you up next year. We try and go yearly. Your weather there is so unpredictable and harsh (We live in California). Good luck and keep motoring!!! Don Pacheco aka phatmini aka Clubman1

Hello from Katy, TX!! Miguel here. Long time lurker (~2005), and finally joined.
My reason for joining is a very sad one, but I hope by joining that it will be a good thing in the end.

It's like if I had to give away my favorite pet of all time, and I feel just as rotten as it it was.

I have to sell the car I have loved most of all, one modded carefully and over the years to get me exactly what I wanted. Here I have a chance to find someone who appreciates not just what an MCS is, but who appreciates the mods I have chosen, and the great synergy they create.

This car has made me a whole lot of great friends I wouldn't have met otherwise, it has opened up new worlds, some I only dreamed off, and some I didn't know even existed. My fellow MINI owners have not only been like family, in one case they really became family.

I have to sell for financial reasons (building a money pit, er, I mean house). I was a afraid that if I only advertised in 'Generic' places folks would not appreciate what a neat car this is. I know it is irrational since it is a car , not a real pet, but I'd rather see it go as a whole to someone who will treat it to a steady diet of back roads and occation DEs and AXes, than to a place like carmax that would turn it back to stock, and sell it as a commuter.
No matter what I will be heart broken when it goes, but it will be better if it goes to a 'good' home.

Sorry to hear it, but you're right. I know how heartbreaking it is to sell your MINI; I've decided from now on I'll just ADD to the fleet, instead of selling any! Good luck.

Hey Miguel,
I can understand where you are coming from. I sold my Jeep toy in order to build a house over a year ago but it all worked out fine. I was able to get the mini after the house was built so hang in there, build the house and then get another mini!

Thanks for the kind words. The best part of owning a MINI, is meeting fellow MINI owners.

BTW in the Siggy pic, I'm passing the Viper, and behind a C6 'vette that refuses to give a point after two laps of having my beautiful car filling his rear view mirror. This was before any serious mods too.

Hey all! I just married into mine, and Oxygen Blue dream... She's had it for about 8 mos and we love it! It moved us across the country for grad school... the size can be deceiving for how much it can transport (with the back seats down). This forum rocks! Here's to a lifetime of motoring! (and a new Mini-E when it makes it down the pipeline...)

New Radu!!

Isn't this a great forum! It still astounds me that I can be emailing a person across the Atlantic Ocean, in Romania, and we have one great thing in common! The Mini Cooper. I own a '08 R55 MCS Clubman. It has been so much fun to drive. There are great forums to get involved with to try and fix your problems with the car. I am sure someone will help. My wife and I are travelling to Germany this Christmas to visit my son who is in the AirForce near Trier (Rhineland-Pfalz). How far is Romania from Germany? Don Pacheco

Well, finally making my way over here. I have been posting and attending events with NEMINI for the past 2 years. I have looked at this site for how to's and general information, but finally decided to hop over here and start visiting with you guys. I am currently living in Connecticut, but am originally from California, Northern, grew up around Chico/Sacramento. The Navy is what brought me out East, I served 8 years in the submarine world.

And to answer you donp624p the two countries are about 1000 km, or about 620 miles away, not sure if there is transit service there, but I am sure there is.

New to me MC40

I just got an '04 MC40 to use as a daily driver and to autocross next season. It is a blast to drive so I am already looking forward to it. It will be tough going against several experienced MINI drivers in GS.

I do have an initial question. Mine came with DRLs enabled. Can I change the programming to turn them off or is this something only the dealer can do?

Unfortunetly quite far... About 2500 km ~1560 miles... Germany is situated in Western Europe and Romania is in Eastern Europe...

Your Mini looks just like ours that we took delivery as of
Oct. 20, 2009 except we did not get the driving lights and
have the 16" Bridge spoke wheels.
Great car! Trekman72

Potenital owner looking to learn more about these cars. I am in Hilliard OH and am a long time SCCA member, active autocrosser, and sometimes road racer.
