14 R55 - New Hampshire

Hello! I purchased my Clubman with 40k a couple of months ago and love it!
I had a Subaru Impreza prior to that I was more then happy to get rid of.

I'd like to install a new stereo that will support my Iphone. I have gone to Crutchfield to look and they have a kit for the dash. Has anyone else installed this kit? Does it look OK? I'm concerned that I do not want to hack the interior.

Also, I like to mod this car.
1. short shift
2. transmission oil upgrade (I have heard the tranny is not reliable. Is that true? How have you taken care of this?)
3. Air filter
4. Exhaust
5. Intercooler
6. ECU Tune.

Ideally, I'd like to go to a website, enter in my model and year and up comes tons of options that will fit my car specifically.

What order have you modded your car in?

Cheers!

Welcome to NAM.

If you have not already done so, suggest you check out the Gen3 section and in particular the Modifications area as most likely if it has been done, there will be discussions on the item.

There are a few forum vendors that break out the modifications based on vehicle and year. Check out:

Welcome to the forum and MINI ownership. The first thing to do is get caught up on any overdue maintenance that may exist. You should find the three websites already listed to be exactly what you are looking for. I have used OutMotoring and found their website weeds out all of the great products that won't work on my MINI. Apparently the others do the same. This is not the case for other brands. The ability to modify a MINI is much greater than it would have been for your Subaru.

Good luck and enjoy your MINI.

Welcome that is a great looking and low mileage R55. I'm on my second R55 now as we use it as our shop car and love it to death. We have plenty of parts for the R55 and more options than you want. So if you ever have questions let us know as we can tell you what we did with ours and happy to help.

Highly interested in what you have done to yours. I honestly don't even know where to begin. I do have a limited budget hence can do a few mods at a time only.

I am not sure of the forum standards though, do we keep this conversation in here or move it to another place?

Again very interested in:
* what you have modded - what went right and what didn't.
* regular maintenance that I should be aware of
* What companies did you purchase your mods from - did you like them?
* Any interesting facts about my Cooper that I may not know of - like how the hell do I control my intermittent wipers?? haha
Thanks!
G

Your welcome to email us any questions you have and we'll help you build your car the way that fits your needs. I've been working on MINIs for the last 16yrs and I sell all the different brands of parts so all the parts on our shop car are from our company. I just put together the best combo for what I wanted to do with the car.
Maint wise the most important thing is change the oil every 5k and run premium fuel.

Fiona looks great and I love that color. Is Fiona an Auto?
I know there's a video or 2 on YouTube that shows you how to install an aftermarket stereo - a quick search should bring it up.

Hello iankun,
Auto?!?!?! HAHA no. Six speed. I don't drive autos!

Thanks for the tip. I actually found a detailed video in this forum which I think will be helpful. WOW it looks complicated to take the dash apart!

Cheers

Be sure to come to MOT 2019 this June at Mt. Washington. Stop by my tent as I might have some stuff you'll like.

Thats great! Good luck with the install.
PS: Doh, I should've noticed the Short shift in your mod list meant that Fiona is not an auto
