Greetings from Europe

Hi all!

I've been a lurker of the forum until few days ago when I decided to shoot some photos, and as such I first wanted to introduce myself.

Bought an R55 Cooper D (!) last march and am really happy with it. It's my first but I guess won't be the last MINI.

NAM is a great source of news and interesting things, it's a shame that they're aren't many diesels owners on here..

Hi! I posted a photo on another thread (about what we did to our MINI today ) but here it is!

I will be posting also in the night photos thread as I had a "session" yesterday night which I always wanted to do, and the photos cane out how I always thought of them

I am overall really satisfied as after 5 months of driving in several conditions (daily commuting, 2k+ km for vacation, etc.) the mean consumption is around 47MPG / 20 km/l.
I drive about 23k miles a year and having a petrol here in Italy would be unaffordable with such a mileage.
Remember that the common car here is really small and cheap one, with the MINI already being in the higher end of the range, price and consumption-wise.

However, even if it wasn't for the MPG, I'm really happy of being a diesel driver as I've been for the previous 10 years. The torque the diesel has in the lower RPM range is irreplaceable in my opinion, and makes driving much more relaxed (at least with a stick, which is another quote common equipment on this side of the Atlantic).
The Cooper D has about the same HPs as the petrol, without being a much more extreme engine (e.g. less frequent maintenance), the previous car I had, sported the same engine in a slightly lower displacement (1.4L instead of 1.6L), and lasted 220k before I sold it. This is the PSA engine, not the BMW one. I plan to buy one of the latest R55s (don't like the new clubman) one this one's life will be over, hopefully the BMW engine will last as long as this one.

Welcome.

Good looking car. Diesel has more potential energy than Benzin/Petrol and for the most part the engines are a little more bullet proof.

Great to have you with us. Post some stories, share a MOD.

Motor On!
