Long time jeep guy fell into a mini

I've owned a jeep or jeeps forever. The wife wanted a third vehicle with better gas mileage for running around without the kids. Her van gets 11 mpg, my jeep 14. Happened to find a deal on a 2005 mini cooper S convertible that we couldn't turn down. Now I'm hooked. It's such a fun little car to drive. I'm not selling the jeep (yet) but I'm enjoying driving the mini and looking forward to getting double the MPG.

I did the same...went from Jeeps to a 2013 R56S and shortly there after added a 2014 Paceman All4. Loving the saving on gas...and no issue fitting things in the boot on those Lowe's runs.

Welcome! Long time Jeep guy here too, my first car as a teenager was a CJ-3B I rebuilt with my Dad. (Max speed 46 mph ha)

My wife traded her Rav4 in on a new Clubman about two months ago and we are hooked too. Looking for an old R53 to bop around town in and teach my daughter standard on.

As much as I really enjoy the MINI until they build one that can take on the Moab I'll have a Jeep in the stable here.

Welcom to NAM Tim and to the world of MINI motoring! Just picked up an '04 hatchback that is just a blast to drive. How many miles on your convertible, and did the previous owner make and modifications? You thinking of making some? If you have a chance please post some pix. In the meantime, here's some helpful maintenance schedule information. Please feel free to ask any questions, we have over 40 years experience with the brand!

Another long time jeep owner here. My 2000 Wrangler, factory ordered 17 yrs ago, is well-prepped for serious trails and gets used every week on local jeep club trail runs. Along with my 1-off special ordered F-150 ("More Practical Raptor") (only rolled 5400 total miles since it arrived nearly 2 yrs ago), my MINI is meant strictly for fun (hence forum name)...

My jeep is a 2005 JK unlimited Rubicon. It gets used off road a lot. I'm looking forward to some fun with this new mini. Love driving either one of them with the top off.

The mini has 97K miles. My first priority is cleaning it and fixing things. Mechanically its solid but has a lot of little things that need fixing. I'm not sure about mods yet. It was really dirty inside and out when I got it. The owner before the owner I bought it from went crazy with the plastic dip. Most of it has been peeled off but it still has lots of it in the nooks and crannys of places where it was removed.

Saturday night not 12 hours after I bought it someone backed into it while it was parked. Of course they ran into the back bumper. The back looked good. I wish I had backed it in the front bumper needs to be repainted. They hit it hard enough to twist the tail gate hinges so the tail gate won't open. Now comes the fun of fighting with the insurance companiess to make it right.

Spent the last couple days cleaning her up. Never used clay before, wish I had. What a difference a coat of wax makes. It also really makes the flaws pop out, she's never going to be a show car.
