New owner of an R55 in Destin, FL

Hello from the Emerald Coast! My name is Jason, and I just bought a 2013 R55 for my wife with about 29k miles. It was sold to us as a JCW, but when I look it up on bmwvin and bimmer works (info learned from these forums), it shows as a Cooper S. Shows all options of the JCW, though, so I have no idea. I'll add some pictures of it to the post. Maybe someone can clear that up for me.
Anyways, we've only had the car for 5 days and I'm already itching to mod it. I do love the way it is, just the way it is, but mods are fun. I've read several threads under the 2nd Gen Clubman forum, and I've started a list! I've been given free reign from the wife, as far as mods are concerned, except she gets a say in the rims. I'm looking forward to the future with this fun car. I look forward to meeting some of you!

Congrats, and welcome aboard! That's a nice looking JCW Clubby, and with some popular/common mods has the makings of a really fun car. There are some pretty active local MINI groups in the state. Check Sunshine MINIs or find the group on Facebook to locate a local crew.

Happy Motoring!

Yea, looks like a Cooper S ( I can see the old logo and the stock Cooper S exhaust ) with allot of JCW add ons.

Nice Clubman , someone put a load of money into it.

Thank you fridayxiii! I have been on the sunshine minis page, and we'll eventually join up with the club in the panhandle.

ECS, yeah, I figured it was a Cooper S, judging by the VIN info I've been able to pull up. Thankfully, most of the JCW package was optioned on the car when it was manufactured. Previous owner was a single lady (with a dog...hair was everywhere!) According to the VIN search, it has the aero kit, exterior and interior kit, and sport suspension. And I've been all over your site looking at mods. I appreciate the welcome and look forward to ordering parts from you. And I love how involved you are with the car owners.

Initially, replace plugs and ignition maintenance, throttle remap or piggy back tuner, CAI and some lowering springs. Later, upgraded suspension (coilovers, sway and strut bars, adjustable rear control arms, camber plates), rims and tires, big brakes (willwood, most likely), upgraded intercooler w/larger piping, 30mm blow off valve, downpipe, 3" cat back exhaust, ECU programming, and eventually a larger ported quick spool turbo. Oh, and change all bushings from rubber to poly.
Ironically, this is my wife's daily driver!

Nice car! The best advice I can share: find a good local Mini mechanic who drives a [modded] Mini & join a local club and chat it up.
I am no expert but I do have a 2012 R55 JCW that I have modded - first the suspension as she was pretty fast to start with - then assorted bolt ons and an NM tune. I spin going into 4th when I am stomping on it [turn off your DSC if you plan on doing this beforehand to avoid the light and briefly losing power] and she's as reliable as ever. So much fun it should be illegal.... speaking of that I should also say that my mods all manage to be 50 state compliant.
There are some mods/tunes to avoid if you do not want major engine work later on... it's worth doing your homework.

Thanks, cflowrider! I will definitely look into much research before pushing mods. Mind if I ask what type of suspension you went with, to begin with? Regarding local mini shops...that'll be hard to find. An hour to and hour and a half to the nearest servicer of Mini's, and no one local to service. I will be looking into the one local club, but not sure it's really local to my town...moreso to the entire Panhandle of Florida. I do know, these forums are great info, and if the answer isn't obvious, I'll ask on here, if need be. Thanks again for the info and advice!

Hhhm, try looking for a BMW shop if you can't find Mini?
I went with Koni FSD's using NM sport springs, an NM Engineering rear sway bar and the massive AEM strut tower brace... [fits with their ram cold air intake loved the idea of making the hood scoop functional].
The Michelins make a huge difference and the Re12 wheels are 4-5 pounds [each] lighter than the JCW wheels. As the wheels are 18's we dropped the minimum (1") on the coilovers and it's a perfect fit. With the JCW set up I took corners quite nicely - so much fun - but now I can simply rip them without fuss. If I were to prioritize I'd say start with the wheels/tires, then sway bar. Next step - get the tune and bolt ons all at the same time. Maybe you need a trip up to Way's in Georgia?! Have fun with your sled!
Do you have JCW brakes and drilled/slotted rotors to stop your lil beast?

Great looking Clubman, and love that you have no sunroof as that seems very rare as I've been keeping my eye out for a replacement for my company clubman.
Let us know if we can help as mods are what we do in our shop and happy to help with suggestions for bang for the buck.
