Any and all advice appreciated, even the joksters!
2002 Cooper, nothing on the rev counter works.
Dash lights on speedo do not work.
Door locks do not work.
Had and fixed water leak, standing on drivers side.
Dried as much as possible without taking out carpet, vacuumed out water and left air space to aid drying.
Removed much of the dash "skins" to check for other water, none found.
Handheld computer analyizer gets no reading at all.
Car runs perfectly, speedo works, but without dash lights.
Any suggestions, please?????

Here we usually ASSUME left hand drive....
So assuming so....have you check on the passenger sidewall...checked the bcm...it might have gotten wet or water wicked its way up the wiring bundles to it...
Same for drivers side to the tach cluster...
Try a "computer reset" yet....it is actually a "cluster reset" and test by many accounts... Check the reset was like giving my mini Viagra thread for instructions.... Then you can see if it moves in the test...might narrow down the issue a bit....more info at the least!!

 

I know it sounds stupid but did you check the fuses?

 

Thanks ZippyNH and coOop3r for inputs. First coOop3r: Yes I have checked the fuses, good fuses. Your idea not stupid at all. Some folks, me included, do overlook obvious things at times. Now ZippyNH: I have not done a "computer reset" yet. Don't know exactly how to go about that one. Do you? The passenger's side (right) is dry as a bone. The water leak, for your memory, was the small connector hose above the driver's head, above the liner, simply came undone. It connected the moon roof drain to the left windshield post drain. There was no clamps on it, so I put it back on with clamps. The wirings and connectors are all dry above the floor. They never got wet. The fuse box and associated connectors all got very wet. I just hope the bcm hasn't blown.

 

If the fusebox got wet....
Bet the backside is covered in green corrosion if it was wet for any length of time.... That might be the real issue....
I'd check with a multimeter if current Is even getting to the fuse...easy check.

 

Thanks again Zippy. I do have the fuse box lose. It has been wet, very wet, but no corrosion to note. I did overlook checking the voltage on the fuse, but did check it out on the over end, at the rev counter plug on the steering wheel. No voltage there. Cannot figure why I did not check the fuse voltage. I know the fuse is good, at least I did check that. Seems I miss the most obvious things, at times. Thanks for bringing that up. Will check it out and let you know the results.

 

I had exactly the same issue in my r53 (2005 S). Ended up tracking the problem down to the main body wiring harness. Water got in through the sunroof drain that detached, soaked the carpets and the wiring harness as well. Replaced the connections with ones from a totaled mini and all is well. Tach reads, i get power through the diagnostic ports, and my brake lights and BC1 function normally. Here's a link to my thread with pics:

Check the main connector mounted on the kick panel near the fuse box (40 pin connector)--check for corrosion. If that is good then you should start checking for bad wires--my 03 had a broken wire to power the ODB port and a broken wire in the harness from the speed that supplies the tach--40 pin connector was corroded from standing water. It's a pain to check it all but ???
