Thanks, Grumpy! I saved the image. It's one of the better caricatures of John Bull, the UK's equivalent to Uncle Sam. In college, I was a European History major with an emphasis in British studies. I wasn't sure how many NAM posters knew John Bull. I imagine it will take some time to go by carrier or wagon train to Oklahoma.

 

I hope they don't use the "Sooner Schooner" those little ponies are only good for a hundred yards and then they are pooped.

Fortunately I have been very busy on work projects and have not had time to stew over this long wait. Unlike some others, I have no shortage of vehicles, and so try not become impatient. However, Patience ls a virtue I wish I possessed in much greater amounts.

On John Bull, whileIwas in the Navy I spent a lot of time with the Brits. I recall the posters similar to "I want you" Uncle Sam posters from WWII.
Did not know much more than that however.
I was always a bit jealous of the Limeys they had their Rum ration and all US Ships were dry. ( You could lower a whale boat and have a drink on a boat, a boat is not a ship.) There is always a way.

I have the Fiat 500 rental through10/9, so I'm set for a vehicle. If the Torino docks by 10/3 and John Bull clears the VDC in two days, I'll make your predicted date of 10/5 (Saturday). My work schedule's not bad - I only have two trials scheduled through 9/30 plus normal status hearings, etc. With our Florida Gulf Coast vacation (10/12-10/26) pending, I'm keeping things to a manageable minimum. Of course, I'm keeping the week before our Florida departure available for John Bull's initiation.

In other news, the Torino has just departed Sandtander, Spain, and is now on the way to Baltimore. ETA 02 October at 0800 UTC, which I think translates to 4 am ET.

Interesting that it says the chassis for my 2014 Countryman is a Sports Activity Vehicle. I point this out because the 2013 CM is considered a Passenger Car according to the NHTSA placard on the inside of the door frame. Why does this matter? If the NHTSA calls it a SAV with its ALL4, then they allow you to tint the back and rear side windows with dark tint.

 

Well poop. My MA didn't order the cold weather package on my (now built) MINI. How many $36k cars does he sell in New England without heated seats?! Probably none.

He is investigating after-market possibilities where "the switch would be in a different place." I have half a mind to tell them to build a new one. Really not sure what to do here. Any suggestions from you wise folks?

 

I live in Houston and can't do without heated seats....mmmmm toasty! even in summer... i certainly wouldn't have a car without them up in the antarctic circle area of New England.

 

If your not happy then have them order new one with the options you wanted. It may take a bit longer but you will have the car you want.

 

For all those waiting for the Turandot she is back on marine radar south of Cape Cod steaming into NYC at a nice 16.5 knots. Looking on schedule for 9/24. She survived all sea monsters, hurricanes and icebergs so far

Did your order for heated seats show in the Vehicle Inquiry Report that your Motoring Advisor gave you when you signed the order for the car? If it did, the problem is with your dealer and they'll need to make it right at their expense (either by reordering the car with you waiting many more weeks, or by a dealer installed after-build kit.

If it isn't on your VIR, IMO I think you bear most of the responsibility for the error/oversight. My MA went over the VIR line by line with me to compare to my "Build my MINI" order sheet, and assure everything I wanted was on the order before I signed off. It would be up to your dealer whether to order you another car and/or refund your deposit, etc.

Excellent! It's nice to have a completion date. When was your order date and what state do you reside in?

 

If you look up obsessive in the dictionary you will see many members of this thread listed as examples of the correct use of the term .

Hoping for a Saturday delivery otherwise will be waiting a week for pickup. May be wishful thinking on my part although, they only need to slap a set of mud flaps on, remove the protective wrapper add a few paint swirls and its ready to go.

Leaving out the thought of having to navigate the at least 2-3k other cars looking for a home at the same time .

I knew going in that it would take 8-10 weeks and that's pretty much been spot on.

 

Just thought I would share that on the mini owners site it says my '14 paceman is en route, I checked WW and it said the boat left south hampton yesterday and should be in NY which I think is actually the Bayonne NJ port on or about October 2nd.

Hopefully a few others that are waiting are on board with my new girl!

My chrome driving lamps are not reflected either, though I'm guessing those are installed at the VDC or MINI dealership.

Yah, I hit the VIN site already. I wonder if it's an actual production pic of my beast, or just a generic pix, kinda like the 'photo' that generates out of the configurator. Sure does look real, so maybe they take a 'mug shot' of each Mini after it comes off the line for documentation of original build configuration.

 

That's not too bad. Mine took nine (9) days to produce. If your completion date is 9/27 or 9/28, that means you start production somewhere around 9/18 or 9/19. Utah is a beautiful state! We stayed at Snowbird near Alta, Salt Lake City, etc., a few summers ago and loved every second of our stay.

 

Can not take credit for the link stumbled over it while reading another thread here on NAM. My DOB was actually 9/5 and not 9/6. I had to wait until the 15th to catch a ride out of Southhampton

This is nice. Mine is eclipse gray but the picture looks black on this site. No on to check the rest of the list against what I am expecting.
