"Those waiting for a 2014" Support Group
Congratulations TD! came home from work to a flurry of activity here today. Please point your wife and daughter to all of us who contributed to your and our obsession
.
So... if you do get your car on 10/5 it will be a complete confirmation of my clairvoyant skills and I can retire knowing 100% of my predictions came true
I will chalk it up to a wild *** guess with bit of logic blended in. Actually its my wedding anniversary so was a good day to pick.
now really drive the family nuts by putting the maritime tracking map up on the big screen and make them watch the ship cross the Celtic sea at 16-18 knots.
Once again congrats I raise my four fingers of bourbon in the direction of Baltimore this evening

It's about 800 miles/2 days transport from Baltimore to Chicago. Two days at the VDC, 1 day loading into and out of the VDC, etc. seems reasonable. You should shave a day of transport from the VDC. My dealer needed a day to do whatever they do there (washed it again?) before I picked it up. All car dealers in Illinois also close on Sundays so that added a day prior to my pickup.
My 2013 MCS is on the Toronto as well, I was concerned that the poor weather would cause some delays and apparently it has.
Yes, SC, you may have nailed my delivery date down to the specific date IF my Roadster clears the VDC within 2 days. Well done, sir! I remember my wedding anniversary only because I got married the day after I finished my 3 day bar exam in Ohio. Passed the bar and got the girl!
Looks like you and the girl will be enjoying a new ride in 2 weeks.!! Can not wait for the pictures
Woohoo! The beast has been loaded on the Torino! That removed the last fear I had that I wouldn't make the boat.
As long as he doesn't take an unplanned shore excursion in Spain, all is going to be good.

Joining this support group in the hopes that it will ease the pain of waiting. Ordered my CM All4 on 9/8 and only check the owner's lounge about 4 times a day. Too bad that it goes from "Scheduled for Production" to "Awaiting Transport." Does that mean we can't tell when it's actually in production? Sounds like the only way to get that info is to call.
Glad to be part of the community. Can't wait to wave to y'all once I'm in my new baby. Now to think of a name...

We'll help talk you off the ledge as necessary.
On the Water!!!
My MA just emailed me. My CM hit the water today onboard the Michigan Highway. I was hoping for a WW boat, but it's on a K Line. Oh well, at least it's on its way now
ETA is October 2. Now the real worry begins.

OL is now showing that is awaiting production.. So at least it changed. I don't want to pester askmini at this point.
Actually askmini has an automated system that you get when you call. It tells you the exact status and completion date, and is updated at least once a day. No need
To speak to a live person - they in fact may know less. For example the automated system told me my vehicle was in production and was expected be completed by September 19th (actual completion date ended up being Sep 20th). I then asked to speak to a live person to ask about shipping times and he said it will take 4-6 months - and frankly was quite clueless. I had to educate him on build and shipping times (thanks to all the expertise I gained from NAM!)

Welcome to the community! I agree that OL was generally pretty useless for me. Your motoring advisor (MA) can access more information that is shown on line, and of course the in person calls to Customer Care can be more informative. Follow the posts in this thread and you'll find some combination that will work to get you the MINI information fix you need during this traumatic waiting period.
MINIDraftFarm, banderlin, rs-cup:
Welcome to the discussion of obsessed MINI owners in limbo! The experience is almost surreal, insofar as I often find myself checking ASK MINI reps and NAM daily for advice and updates. This is the place to be!
SheldonCooper:
Hey, SC! Thanks for the perpetual encouragement. Now that my Roadster's actually assigned a ship, I'll chill out while the Torino makes it's way to Spain then Baltimore. Of course, I'll check marine forecasts until Torino makes port to make sure the Hurricane of the Century doesn't strike. Then I'll get back on board when we arrive at the VDC - that will be the most painful waiting time.
QuietHarper:
Did we board the Torino today? For some reason I thought our journey to Spain began tomorrow. Once I received news we had a ship, I relaxed a bit. Nothing you can do when the MINI is at sea. Stay tuned...
RavenGirl:
You're not bothering ASK MINI reps by calling them. Once my Roadster hit production, I called quite often. Their job is to smile and accommodate your questions, something you're paying for with the price of your MINI.
KennyR:
Kenny, that is one one awesome looking Roadster! MINI of Sterling has a Chili Red Roadster I've admired for some time. Though I admire the color and undeniable sportiness of red vehicles, I've always been too conservative to drive or even rent a red car. Enjoy your sporty Chili Red Roadster, my friend, while I covertly slip by in my very conservative Pepper White Roadster.

Hey QH! I checked WW and noticed my Roadster boarded at "20-09-2013 12:55:00". We made it on board! For some reason, I believed my Roadster would sit on the docks of Southampton awaiting a ship that would never come. I'll have to educate myself on the marine traffic site for kicks to watch the Torino's progress.

What'll you have while we're waiting?
Out of obsessive curiosity, I gave the ask MINI phone # a call today. The automated system said that my CM is waiting for transport to the port of exit (OL still says awaiting production). So, I got a human on the line, who informed me that it's on a boat (WW)! I guess their systems aren't exactly synced.
Now to get my VIN from my MA (OL only shows a partial VIN) so I can track that sucker. I hope the human was more right than the automated system.
Logic dictates that the automated system is probably right. I ordered it 12 days ago, there's no way it's on a boat. Dang humans, always messing things up.
UPDATED: Yeah, that guy wasn't right. I decided to call back and she is indeed awaiting assignment to a ship (that's some quick production). Interestingly, he asked me if it was for an X5 or a Cooper S. I guess they have overlapping production #s with BMW. So the first dude probably gave me the info for the X5. Odd.

I checked the WW website this afternoon and entered my VIN number and found that mine had been received at the terminal and assigned a ship. It's assigned to the "Don Juan" leaving Southampton on 9/22/2013 and arriving in NY on 10/02/2013.
Getting closer and closer!!
Getting closer and closer!!
If John Bull is anything like me, and I have no reason to doubt, it, he will have a round or two of The Macallan and a fine cigar.

Things are moving fast for you, Bob. Awesome! You will get your beloved MINI around the same time as I will.
Who's Obsessive? No one here I'm sure!
That's the boat I'm hoping we can catch! Supposedly my wife's MINI was sent to Southampton this morning, so hopefully it can make it! Next boat to New York is another week!
My MA phoned today and informed me my CM is scheduled for a truck on Wednesday should arrive at dealership Thursday morning. I am scheduled to pick it up on Friday!!! I asked what the dealer really needed to do before I pick it up. They said it is in 'transport mode' and needs to be put in 'road mode'. I would guess that means removing the tow hook, fueling up, and removing the plastic wrap, and a wash. Does anyone know what else they actually do?
