Congrats...your MINI is no longer just a photo in the OL or an image in your mind, it's a real, living, breathing (well... ok, maybe not breathing), MINI !

Did Zippy pickup the MINI today? Was hitchhiking the final solution, or dog sled?

We'll be heading up to Newark, DE as I speak to a 1000 rowdy teens about dignity, haha but my surprise is, the whole talk is related to Zombies and part way through we infect them we administer a cure after 1 hr for good measure.

If you see a Justa CM/B waving on the way up to and around DE, be sure to wave back!
Maybe I can sneak some pics at the Ports in Blatimore VDC on the way up (895). :D

Happy Motoring!

Hi New to Mini Just want to say Hi

Hi Guys and Gals,

New to Mini we order ours on 6/27/13 but have not received a production number yet. We were told it take 75 to 100 days starting to believe that to be the truth. Does any one know when 2013 ordering is closed? The waiting and the anticipation of moding it a little it drive me up the wall.

The day my MA emailed me my VIN number, 4-days after placing my order on May 27th, he said I should have my car by July 4th. Sure as hell, I had it by July 4th. So I am thinking they good ones have the schedule pretty well figured out, and know within a few days when you take delivery...and can narrow that date down as the date gets close.

Just a guess though...they could totally be throwing darts at a board and messing with soon-to-be MINI owner's heads.

Hrm... I was given my production number the day I ordered but was told it might be a week or so before it was in the system. It was in 3 days later though. I ordered May 18.

Obviously not an "S".

Is it me, or does time seem to be slowing down?

Model year 2013 is over, at least with the Countryman (I ordered a '14 2 weeks ago). I had a production number the day I placed my deposit and a VIN within 4 days. In fact, my car has already been produced and is waiting to go to port.

I'll be going to pick up my car in about an hour. I stopped by yesterday and got some pics. I'll get more later today.

On the WW Shipping "track and trace" site, I have an update that was processed yesterday: "Customs Release" and the Location shows as "Woodcliff Lake, NJ".

Assuming that's normal for a ship that is two days away from port (?) and not a port in NJ either.

Still showing an arrival time of 0600 tomorrow in Baltimore and still now showing up on the map or tracked by any AIS yet.

Where are you located?

It used to be like that, when we ordered our first one they were in short supply and the average wait was three-four months. (Even longer if you went to one of the dealers which sold them for MSRP.) It took a while to get the production number. You should get the production number a month or so before its produced.

I haven't heard of any issues like that in the US for while, the supply is good enough it usually doesn't take that long to get a MINI. Unless you've found a dealer which has run out of 2013s and is giving you a 2014 slot. They're not going into production until the end of August, the factory shuts down for a month.

Mine is listed the same way and we are both aboard the MH due in to Baltimore on the 7th - perhaps it's the customs place of record no matter what port.

Still looking forward to the MH showing up again on the AIS!

Mine cleared customs 4 days before the ship got to Baltimore, so I'd say your situation is perfectly normal. That is, unless you read the site wrong and it really said "Custom Release," in which case somebody cut the ropes holding your MINI to the back of the MH and the car is now floating in the middle of the Atlantic.

minor rant//

Okay... the Live Ship tracking site it taking some of the fun out of the waiting game for me. The MH is still showing it's due into port in about 10 hours and it's still not in range of AIS tracking ?? How is that possible ?

Not that I'm worried the ship vanished or anything... .... but geez, sure would like to track it as it comes close to the coast and then travels up the chesapeake bay into the harbor.

//minor rant

Just messing with you...and everyone else on that ship.

Are you going to head down to watch them unload?

How very rude of them.

Ummmm...... no, not going down to the port to see them unstrap my MINI off the butt end of the ship. Some things you just don't want to see.
