"Those waiting for a 2013" Support Group
After a LLOOOOONNNNNGGGGG day of waiting, I finally got to pickup my Clubman this evening. It's good to have a MINI back in the garage...I was starting to get the shakes.
Took delivery with 7 miles on the odometer, and was in and out in under 30-minutes. Got a pair of blacked out license plate frames, and my son got a MINI toy car, from my Motoring Advisor...so that was nice. The frames will go well with the blackout theme I intent to undertake over the coming months. It's a bit weird getting used to some of the controls after driving my R53 for 10-years, but I am liking her so far.
So just a few quick iPhone photos this evening...hoping I can get better quality photos in the coming days once I get some mud flaps installed, and add a few of my touches to her.

Had my windows tinted at 35% yesterday. I wanted to error on the side of light to ensure I don't attract any curious LEOs. I would say they came out around medium shade. Went for the 3M Nano Carbon tint. I'ts supposed to be resistant to fading and blocks about 40% of heat I believe. Here's a quick pic.
What other blackout mods you thinking about? My tinter said it's impossible to get all the wrinkles out if you blackout the headlight trim. He said just have a paintshop do it.
Figure i would throw my hat in the ring as well...about to place an order for a now i think 2014 JCW Paceman (mini has started production on the MY2014 as of 1July)

We're at 790mi now, after a friends baptism today we took all the MD back road twisties through farms and dam roads, and boy oh boy! These cars have come a long way, even from my R53. This CM is really great, handles well and is just as much fun. Hard to keep her in the "limits" for breakin!

Howard and Montgomery... Started in silverspring/ aspen hill the shot up to olney: Went through ednor, 650, Brighton dam area, back to 108 then sidetracked down lime kiln and browns bridge before heading home through Gorman rd :D major twisties area and was at the dam when that Tstorm strolled through. The CM did great and those Pirelli RF are much gentler then the Bridgestone RF. The handles the flooded 650 roads well.
I don't get down that way very often. Did make a trip down Rt 29 on our way to Montgomery county yesterday. Today I went through that same storm system you did on my way back from Baltimore through Frederick County on my way to Washington County.
Glad you're enjoying your Countryman !

The last three times we've had a MINI tinted, we took them to D&L Tinting on the north side of Baltimore. A bit of a trek for you but I think they have several other locations in MD. They have a lot of choices in tinting, do a lot of high end vehicles, and have done a very good job with the installs for us.

So you were in Baltimore today, did you stop at the ports to see your jcw?
You couldn't resist the urge could you? Haha
Just checked their website, appears other then Whitemarsh, the only other location is Parkville.

Wow that is slow, I travel much faster on the bay than that. Too bad I don't have a boat in the water right now, or I would tow them in faster. Maybe he needs a pilot from way out there.
Yeah, I don't know how fast or slow it is in terms of MPH but that ship was traveling at around 4 knots while making a wide, sweeping turn to head up the channel. And watching the movement on the map while it travels at 16 knots looks as slow as molasses in January.

She'll pick up some speed in the middle of the bay, and especially as traffic dies down as the sun sets.
Hope the VDC is quick, after cleaning up the salt water and bird poop from being strapped to the back!
Maybe that's your secret... Some bird poop and salt water stain camo pattern on the JCW roof.... I must say, quite unique youification! Lol

I haven't been there in years but ya, I remember those roads when I had my R53. Where are you in the area?
