"Those waiting for a 2013" Support Group
First post here! I've been a member for a few years with a 2010 Cooper S hardtop .... but my 2013 Cooper S Coupe is on its way on the Independence II. Black with the silver roof, JCW package, Recaro seats, Mini Connected with Nav, R112 wheels. Scheduled for arrival in Baltimore on 7.24.
Quick question for the group. now that my baby has been sitting on the docks for almost a week awating transportation. Should I be concerned about sea salt and dirt and the effects it would have on a new paint job? Does any one else have this concern? Does anyone have any recomendations when I finally get to pickup my car?

There is a video of a distribution center on the Owners Lounge website that shows the cars with a shrink wrap like white plastic that is removed before a quick wash and wipe down. Think the plastic is intended to protect the new finish. Haven't seen my car yet -- it's at the distribution center awaiting transport to my dealer. So, I don't have any other tips for you.
See ya on the road...

Need help!
Last week, I ordered 2013 MCHS with a sports package with 17 inch mini yours twin spoke wheels($250 additional to the package on the web). I placed my deposit down and I was pretty happy with the deal. Then, a few days ago, my salesman told me that the wheel can not be combined with the sports package and the price listed should be $500 and that mini website is aware of the mistake. He wants additional $250!!! The dealer is not willing to honor the contract nor the mini rep that I talked to on the phone. I was really excited about my first MINI but now I am so angry and frustrated at the company. I wish I can just walk away but I have invested so much time and emotions designing the car. What is my options?
It is like anything associated with a negotiation, You need to find a way that both sides win or feel like they do. Besides finding the compromise be willing to walk away from the deal and see if the dealer will do something to keep it. I dont think there is a magic bullet for the issue.

You can check http://sagaweb.2wglobal.com/AppSchedules/countryList.do to get schedules. Just use Southhampton as the source port and Baltimore as the destination.

Aaauuughhhh!
After the accident I was in seven weeks ago, in which my neck was broken... We ordered my new Mini as incentive to get better fast. The doc finally said I could drive again(carefully, ...yet I was not driving during the accident) and now I am so excited that I truly think I might POP if my new baby doesn't come soon!!! This little smiley pretty much says it all...

Perhaps you can go without the wheels for now and gain back the original $250 -- maybe use it toward something else fun on the car. You can save the wheel option as a special future event and start a "MINI wheel fund" and continue to personalize you car through out the time you own it.
The MINI is a unique car -- so getting the same product (in my opinion) is not possible with other automobile types available.
Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
js77,
I know when I ordered my 2013 my MA was very clear that the pricing for the 2013 models was still TBD and would very likely differ from that of the 2012 models. I think all of us have had the prices of our cars change a little bit from the 2012 to 2013 models (some up, some down). They even had to re-write my contract because my MA had written in numbers and their finance team said he couldn't do that.
I can understand being upset, but don't look at it like you were being taken advantage of. All of us were in the same boat, and some options became more expensive, some became free, and they didn't know any of the final numbers until the orders were actually placed. They may have screwed up in not telling you final numbers were still up in the air, but I wouldn't let that ruin the enjoyment of getting your new car.

I'm with jeffs2 on this. My MA told me prices and feature packages were not locked in stone when I "built" my Roadster. It turned out that some items that were options became standard for 2013 and visa versa. My bottom line actually went down $50.00.
Had it gone up it would not have phased me. (Unless, of course, it went up by more than 1 or 2%)

All right, there are boats to Baltimore leaving the 22nd, 23rd, and 30th so hopefully Edgar gets finished up in time for the boat on the 30th! My current daily driver is being picked up on August 21st so what is already a nail biting experience is even moreso because I will be without a car on the 21st if my MINI isn't ready by then.
As far as the pricing issues talked about above; my MA told me all the pricing was the same as 2012 except for the premium package split and the bluetooth included standard.
If I were having issues with the price changing I would try to get them to give you credit for accessories like mud flaps or floor mats since those are going to have a higher profit margin for them they might be willing to meet halfway with something like that more than haggling the actual price on the car.
