Just Picked Up my 2011 Hardtop

Greetings all,

I just picked up my 1st Mini at the Princeton, NJ dealership yesterday. Loving it so far. I won't have to wait long to see how this bad boy handles in the snow--expecting 3-6 inches tonight.

Looking forward to learning from all of you.

Phil

Congrats on the new MINI.

MINI's do well in the snow, but they do great in the snow with snow tires.

Thanks for the warm welcome all. I've alread got some goods tips here.

Well the snow forecast for earlier in the week never materialized, so no experience taking "Ella" out in the white stuff.

I'm considering getting some snow tires though--any specific recommendations? I assume now would be the time to pick up a set at a bargain price.

I did get the all season tires. But in my experience, snow tires are much better and my daily 70-mile round trip commute is quite hilly in spots.

I'd suggest looking at what Tire Rack has. I picked up a set of Pirrelli snow controls last fall on closeout. I've been happy with them. Any modern snow tire is going to work well for you. IMO the Blizzak WS 60 is probably the best, but it is not cheap.

Here's what I came up with. Looks like prices are dropping.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...65&diameter=15

I'd recommend putting the snows on another set of wheels. Makes change over a breeze.

Congrats and welcome to NAM! I a currently awaiting delivery of my '11 MCS Horizon Blue/Black.
Kinda wishing I lived somewhere that I needed snow tires, great excuse for a second set of wheels .
Ok, not really, I hate snow.
Ella is a great name by the way.

I have Falken Espia EPZ on my Cooper and it did great on some steep hill climbs in deep snow this week, good in slush and on ice as well. They handle like crap in the dry though. Congratulations on your new ride!
